Now young adults, our children say this dessert is 'awesome' with ice cream. Everyone who takes a bite nods in agreement! Nostalgic, comforting, luscious, call it what you will, this is one of those simple, old-time treats that never goes out of style.
it was a delicious and easy 2 make. it is enjoyable to make with kids.

A very simple and delicious recipe for those chilly autumn evenings. I used Granny Smith apples and they were perfect. Only thing I might change to this recipe is sprinkling a little extra cinnamon directly on the apples before adding the topping. Wonderful with a scoop of premium vanilla ice cream! Thanks!

I love apple crisp too, but I add wheat germ to the oats, and a bit of whole wheat flour...I also sometimes add rasins to the apples and a bit of nutmeg. Yum.

I did enjoy making it for guests. I made the topping (minus the butter) 2 days in advance and stored it in an airtight container. Cutting the apples was time consuming so if you can find the pre-cut apples that would be great. Everyone enjoyed it and wanted the recipe. I think it would be fun to make the topping, and put it in a nice container with the recipe attached and give to guests.
