Loved the flavor. Used an egg instead of the egg substitute and less Splenda than the recipe called for. Thought the batter was too thin so let it set for a few minutes and it made a much nicer pancake.

I love to cook. A past time here in North Carolina. But what really made this good was a table spoon of butterpeacan cream and a dash of Cinn. Enjoy!

Someone below asked about using natural ingredients instead of substitutes -- I would say use two eggs should do it. For sugar, I would use 1/3 cup at most, but really, a couple of tablespoons is plenty. Don\'t add too much or the pancakes will burn; if they aren\'t sweet enough for you, just drizzle more honey or syrup over them afterwards.
Also you don\'t need this much raising agent (baking soda and baking powder); the soda alone will be enough. It will react with the acid in the buttermilk and bubble away happily. If you put too much baking powder in, you\'ll be able to taste it (a salty metallic taste), which wrecks the taste of just about any pancake or cake.

I agree with the first review, I\'d like to use all natural ingredients. Can someone interpret the amount of sugar that equals to Splenda and the real egg instead of Egg substitute?

Although I don\'t like Splenda because of it\'s dangerous health affects on the human body, basically the recipe is okay. I would use organic/vegetarian fed eggs high in lutein instead of the egg beaters, and Xyltol in place of the sugar, and always use whole wheat flower instead of white flour.

Good recipe, but why not give alternate natural ingredients for sugar and eggs. Not everyone likes the taste of the fake artificial sweetner and fake eggs.

Im really bored, so this is what i do... i go on yahoo and comment really wierd pancake recipes. Yep, i know. say what you want. i could be vacationing in japan right now if it hadnt been for my genius idea to toilet paper our own house and make my mom think it was my friend, Swamp. Instead, swamp is vacationing in japan with my family instead of me. All thanks to a pancake recipe. Kudos!

I think it\'s a great recipe and about the splenda who cares. there\'s alot of other [profane] out there that we eat that harm our bodies. and we eat it anyway!! so why go and put it all on splenda?

You\'ve got to be kidding, right? Splenda? That is total junk. It damages the DNA of your cells and has over 92 different reactions that are detrimental to your health. Why would you recommend something like that? The flavor of that doesn\'t go with bran either. You should recommend Black Strap Molasses. It contains nutrients like minerals that nourish the body, not abuse it like Splenda!
Oat bran cereal? Why not raw oat bran that doesn\'t contain all the chemicals and sugars that the cereal contains?
All purpose flour? That has zero nutritional value and only adds bulk to the dish. Why not whole wheat flour that adds flavor and nutrition?
Egg substitute? What is that for? Use real eggs and get the nutrition out of it.
You are obviously another "hired gun" of the food industry that has no idea what healthy is. I see Splenda is spending some of their money to support this whole recipe. I hope people reading it can see through this mess. You need to go back to school and also tell the sponsors to go somewhere else and get on with helping people here, not abusing their intelligence and giving bad advice to unsuspecting people that are ignorant of what is good for them.
Either that, or go work at McMaggots and serve garbage to those that really don\'t care.

Gotta be kidding me. Sounds like people actually do believe everything they read on the internet. How about excess sugar leading to weight gain and potential diabetes?! But at least you wouldn\'t be damaging your DNA!

Add some twigs and grass also, for fibre and flavor, because they are so natural and delicious as well. Geez! Damages the DNA in your cells? You libs crack me up.
