  • Wonderful with a twist

    theresa42581 - December 11, 2006 05:20:56 PM PST
My family and I found this recipe to be just amazing. We were not able to find the garlic and herb cream chesse so we use onion and chive instead and it made it just wonderful. This would have to be my favorite recipe so far that I have found on yahoo foods.

  • Great recipe with many different variations.

    FoodLover - January 8, 2007 04:29:42 PM PST
Wonderful, simple dish to make. I used a slight variation to the recipe by adding sauteed onion, mushroom and garlic to plain cream cheese with some fresh parsley .It was quite flavorful & juicy. Cooked on medium-low heat on the stove top covered, turning every 7 min or so, to brown evenly

  • very simple & elegant

    renee p - January 10, 2007 10:25:04 AM PST
I made this for my friends as a New Years Eve dinner, they loved it. I used the garden Vegtable & herb cream cheese, and adden some fresh parsley.
I cut the chicken breast in 1/2 after pounding out the chicken, made for more narrow rolls and could monitor how done the chicken was,
I started out in my grill pan, but finished in the oven. Be patient and do not turn up the heat to avoid burning the bacon & splatter.

  • Delicious !!

    sirvincent69 - December 7, 2006 08:33:19 AM PST
It was simple to make and wonderful to devour.
It can be a main entree, or a snack, or just an appetizer.
It goes great with wine and is not too dry, at all.

This is the first recipe from yahoo that i tried, and it was great, although i cooked on 325 for 45 minutes, i guess depending on how thick the chicken is. i didnt use garlic and herb, the store didnt have. so i used chive and onion, and it was great. Easy fast and Delicious !

  • We have a winner

    Lil Playa - January 6, 2007 08:37:39 AM PST
Such a simple recipe to make
I cooked it in the oven at 300f on a clay pan for 20 minutes. The cream cheese didn't run much which is nice and to pervent it from running out of the chicken I suggest wrapping the bacon around it width and length wise.

  • Yowser! this is good stuff

    RubyShoes - March 6, 2008 08:45:29 AM PST
My husband and I are watching carbs in our diet, so this seemed like a great dish. We made our own cream cheese mixture....chopped scallions,a little parsley(dried) minced garlic added to 6 ounces cream cheese.....(EASY)

We split boneless chicken breasts completley in half, spread on some cream cheese, put a piece of bacon on top, and rolled it up like a pinwheel. Then put in a bamboo skewer, (3 rolls fit on one skewer) and put them in a oven dish and cooked them at 375 F till they were done.....

not sure how the cream cheese would fare on the bbq...so the oven works!!!!

    TRY THIS, ENJOY!!!!!!

in a specialty cheese section, you could use something called BOURSIN garlic/heab cheese spread.....would work great too

  • Don't know what went wrong

    ginmak3 - December 28, 2006 08:02:15 AM PST
Used our grill pan, Niman Ranch bacon, and chicken breasts from Whole Foods. Pounded the chicken thin, spread with cream cheese, wrapped with bacon, and grilled. The bacon grease made the largest mess ever on my stovetop -- splattering everywhere, especially when the cream cheese oozed out the ends of the breast. Cooked for over 25+ minutes until I couldn't stand the splattering anymore, took them off the heat, and served. The chicken in the center wasn't fully cooked, the inside side of the bacon wasn't even cooked, and we ended up chucking them in the garbage and ordering a pizza from the neighborhood pub. Moral of the story: buy really small chicken breasts and thin bacon, I guess. Such a disappointment! And waste of money.

  • Good recipe to work with

    Dayala - July 24, 2008 12:50:51 PM PST
I wasn't able to find the creamcheese so I made my own just using regular cream cheese, minced garlic, italian seasoning, and onion powder. I had a problem of most the cream cheese coming out when I cooked it so I sauteed up some mushrooms added it to the cheese in the pan and made a cream sauce that I poured on the plate before I put the chicken down made a nice presentation. For the family I think I might try the same thing with the sauce but just put cubed chicken in it and made a gravy to pour over a garlic mashed potato maybe melt some cheese on top. it has a great flavor and you could make many different versions of it.

  • Really liked it!

    Hides - June 22, 2008 04:51:54 AM PST
I decided to omit the bacon and made my own filling of cream cheese, garlic, and tomatoes. Also I baked it covered in the oven. It turned out great! I agree with a review that I read that the chicken needs to be seasoned beforehand. I just sprinkled some salt over the rolls before puting them in the oven, but I think it would turn out better seasoning the chicken before making the rolls.

  • Its Just OKAY

    chicagosuitelady - March 27, 2008 07:37:57 AM PST
I made this with the Chive cream cheese because there was no Garlic and Herb- I called myself following after the reviews of others- and trying to surprise my sister with a gourmet meal for her birthday.

While she thought it was really good- personally, being a good cook- I thought the breast was a bit dry- and perhaps I should not have relied on the cream cheese or bacon to season the chicken... (when trying new recipes I tend to leave out my own flair until I know what it was intended to taste like)-

So, I am going to attempt to make this dish again- but, next time, I think I am going to season the chicken breast with a little sumthin', sumthin'- and it shoul dcome out good.

I will let yall know how my variation comes out.

  • An alternative we tried

    brdgebldr - March 5, 2008 01:32:10 PM PST
This recipe is wonderful and so simple. Another variation is to take a marinated pork tenderloin (we use Dale's) and separate it into two halves. Whip cream cheese and chopped pickled jalapenos together. Spread onto one half of the pork. Put the halves together and wrap with bacon slices, securing with toothpicks. Grill.
    MMmmmmmm.....

  • Amazing!!

    Carla B - January 28, 2008 01:18:33 PM PST
I made this dish the other night and it was better than I could of ever dreamed. The fact there are only 3 items required to make something this flavorfull is a major bonus. I baked my chicken insted of frying it. Started at 375 then kicked it up to 400 for 15 to 20 more minutes. I then pan fried them for 5 minutes on all 4 sides to crisp the bacon a bit. The bacon was perfectly cooked and the chicken was picture perfect. I have given 5 people this recipe in a week. Must try recipe and one that is easy to expand on and create new dishes with. Loved It!!!

  • my way

    valentingold - January 15, 2008 06:12:59 AM PST
I have been making this dish for 20 yrs. I use Allouite garlic and herbs cheese. I place the wrapped chicken breasts in a baking pan, pour rose wine to cover the breast halfway and bake in the oven at 350 degrees turning a couple of times. The cheese runs out into the wine creating a delicious sauce as it thickens. When done I pour off the sauce and put the chicken back in for a few minutes to crisp. I then make pasta and pour half of the sauce over it and toss to coat then sprinkle on parmesan cheese. The rest of the sauce I use to pour over the chicken breasts once they are cut. A simpler way is to just wrap bacon around chicken tenderloins and put the cheese directly into the wine. This chicken comes out more tender and more sauce this way.

This is great for a family dinner. Serve it with roasted asparagus drizzled with balasmic vinegar and a rice pilaf and you're set. Does not hold up well as leftovers.

  • Awsome

    lgoldina - January 25, 2007 01:58:13 PM PST
I made this recipe and it was fantastic. I could'nt find garlic and herb cream cheese so I used chive and onion cream cheese and added a little sauteed garlic and fresh parsley. I also sprinkled some poultry seasoning once I rolled it and used turkey bacon instead of regular bacon. I will definitely make this again.

  • THIS IS AWESOME AND EASY!!

    Amy c - January 9, 2007 06:42:45 AM PST
This is a extremely easy recipe and is extremely tasty as well I didnt have the garlic and herb cream cheese so I used just regular cream cheese and added fresh roasted garlic and a 1/2 teaspoon of a chicken herbed rub I had and it was very delicious. Cant wait to have a dinner party so I can try it out on my friends...

  • Sounds good

    R M - May 12, 2008 12:18:18 PM PST
Sounds good but why isn't the sodium content of all these recipe's listed along with the other nutritional information? That seems pretty standard for packaging and other websites. Just a thought.

  • 5 minute prep time?

    reclone5 - March 5, 2008 12:39:55 PM PST
I don't know how you get a 5 minute prep time. I also would like to see a video of someone making this because I don't know how you'd roll a chicken breast like a jelly roll.

  • Sooooo Wonderful!

    happpinesss - December 13, 2007 05:02:49 AM PST
This recipe is my favorite, so far, on Yahoo foods. Why? #1 -Because the basic recipe, in itself, is incredibly QUICK and sooooo delicious that everyone will be asking for seconds. #2 -Because the number of ingredients you can easily add to the stuffing is limitless and, more importantly, EFFORTLESS:-) I look forward to making this dish, again
