It's absolutely to die for, but watch out for the cals and carbs....enough for a whole days worth!!! Not for those trying to stay light on their feet this holiday season. What a great dessert to take to that holiday party!!! There won't be another like it! It's simple, delicious and you will be envied....
the chocolate - cranberry combo cannot be beat....I used shaved chocolate on top to dress it up a bit and it was beautifully tasty!!!

  • Calorie Count

    Sandy - December 6, 2006 03:12:04 PM PST
I think they were trying to say there are 8 servings in the cake, meaning the 1200+ calories listed is for 1/8 of the cake. The two sticks (one cup) of plain butter alone in this recipe have over 1600 calories alone, before you even add any other ingredients. This is an extremely fattening cake but delicious!

  • Sorry to disappoint you!

To wickeddingo07 - Look at the ingredients again. Just the butter, chocolate pieces, sugar, eggs and cream add up to about 7,500 calories and over 600 grams of fat! Bring it to a party and leave it there!

  • ooooh rum and chocolate I am so there!

    mommyfinley - December 6, 2006 03:14:10 PM PST
It sounds heavenly, but it is soooooo not trim, the butter in one serving alone is going to be over 100 cals. No way to budget that one into a low cal diet, but hey it is the holidays so I may go for it anyway!!

  • Tastes Great, but...

This cake tastes amazing! However, it is tricky to slice. No matter how we cut it, it just crumbled into chunks.

  • Not as I expected...

This was more the consistency of a brownie than a "cake". I was hoping for a cake texture and was dissapointed.

The taste was good, but if you are looking for a cake, try another recipe.

  • Not Lite, but great nonetheless

    ochobeeguy - December 6, 2006 02:59:26 PM PST
Actually with 2 cups of cream, 8 eggs and 2 full sticks of butter, there is no way this would be considered a trim, or light cake. That has to be the calories per serving. Of course that is the best way to make an absolutely delicious cake...

  • RE: YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY

so many ... Barbie, Fred, Ethel, Frethel, Bambi... - December 6, 2006 02:52:12 PM PST
Actually, I believe the calorie amount listed is for THE ENTIRE CAKE, not just one piece. So that would be 160 calories in one piece, which, as desserts go, is pretty trim.
