The dried cranberries soak in the rum for at least two hours or overnight, so plan accordingly. You can pour the reserved rum over the cake as it cools for an extra boozy kick.

It's absolutely to die for, but watch out for the cals and carbs....enough for a whole days worth!!! Not for those trying to stay light on their feet this holiday season. What a great dessert to take to that holiday party!!! There won't be another like it! It's simple, delicious and you will be envied....
the chocolate - cranberry combo cannot be beat....I used shaved chocolate on top to dress it up a bit and it was beautifully tasty!!!

I think they were trying to say there are 8 servings in the cake, meaning the 1200+ calories listed is for 1/8 of the cake. The two sticks (one cup) of plain butter alone in this recipe have over 1600 calories alone, before you even add any other ingredients. This is an extremely fattening cake but delicious!

It sounds heavenly, but it is soooooo not trim, the butter in one serving alone is going to be over 100 cals. No way to budget that one into a low cal diet, but hey it is the holidays so I may go for it anyway!!

To wickeddingo07 - Look at the ingredients again. Just the butter, chocolate pieces, sugar, eggs and cream add up to about 7,500 calories and over 600 grams of fat! Bring it to a party and leave it there!

Actually with 2 cups of cream, 8 eggs and 2 full sticks of butter, there is no way this would be considered a trim, or light cake. That has to be the calories per serving. Of course that is the best way to make an absolutely delicious cake...
