2. Cooking Directions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together orange juice, hoisin sauce, vinegar, ketchup, and 3/4 teaspoon salt; set sauce aside. Cut off tops 1 to 2 inches below florets. Trim broccoli and discard tough ends of stalks, then peel and thinly slice crosswise. Separate broccoli heads into florets.
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook noodles until al dente according to package directions, adding broccoli (stalks and florets) and peas during last minute of cooking. Drain; transfer to a large bowl.
  3. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Dredge pork in cornstarch, shaking off excess. Saute pork until lightly browned and cooked through, tossing frequently, about 3 minutes. Pour in reserved sauce, and bring to a boil. Add to bowl with noodles; toss to combine.

Yield: 4 servings

3. Still Hungry?

Orange juice, hoisin sauce, and cider vinegar give this pasta its sweet-and-sour flavor. The vegetables are quickly cooked so they stay crisp. You can use almost any type of noodle in this dish, including traditional Asian noodles such as udon, available in specialty shops and many supermarkets.

  • Just a few tweaks needed ~

    This is really a wonderful and EASY recipe that I WILL make again. The changes I made were as followed;

    I made a DOUBLE batch of the sauce, I cooked up the entire bag of wide egg noodles and I added SHAVED CARROTS to step two (just for more veggies). This made a bigger batch for a bigger chance of leftovers. (C: It was a big hit in our household.

    i really like this recipe because it has the citrus taste and also recommmened you try this and can\'t wait to make it again....instead of using the pork i had use boneless chicken breasts turkey and bite-sized chunks of ham....

  • Love it!

    Tried it last week. It was easy and delicious. Didn\'t have snap peas, no problem. I wouldn\'t double the sauce. It would be too sweet. A dash of chili oil might be good to give it some kick.

  • Not all that hot.

    Looked like a good idea but didn\'t go over that well. I\'d recommend it if you really like strong citrus flavors but if that turns you off this is not your recipe. The up side? Quick and easy to prepare with very little kitchen clean up.

  • Not for me

    Juls24 - January 15, 2009 04:52:46 PM PST
    I made this a few nights ago and to my disappointment it was not at all what I expected. I followed the recipe exactly and the citrus and ketchup flavor was overwhelming. If your not into that, then this might not work for you. I don\'t think I\'ll make this again. No one else in my house ate it either.
