2. Cooking Directions

  1. Heat a grill or grill pan to medium high. Season meat with salt and pepper, mix very lightly, and shape into four patties. Grill hamburgers 4 to 6 minutes per side for rare and 9 to 11 minutes for well done. If making cheeseburgers, lay cheese slices on top of the hamburgers after they have been flipped.
  2. Serve immediately on buns (toasted, if desired), topped with tomatoes, lettuce, and onion slices.

Yield: 4 servings

Put the cheese on at the last second or you will end up with a mess.

A recipe for cooking burgers from Martha Stewart ? Is this what America has come to ? Does this "recipe" also need to be endorsed by Ophra or Emeril for it to be accepted ?

By the way -- 1/2 lb burgers are too big. I make 1/3 lb burgers with 85% beef 15% fat. I cook them on my gas grill with the lid closed at 450 degrees for 4 minutes on each side for medium - medium well. I use Knorr seasoning when I make the patties.

The cheese goes on at the and for about 30 - 60 seconds.
