Too many times people try to get "fancy" with basic mashed potatoes by adding extra flavors such as garlic. Yuck. Garlic has it's place but not in potatoes. There is nothing so satisfying as freshly mashed potatoes with their rich, earthy flavor enhanced by only a little seasoning and butter. This recipe has exactly the right proportions to bring out the best.
