Fairly easy to do, but you can play around a bit with the ingredients. Use red wine instead of white.
I would just like to say, that if you don\'t have any Grated Parmesan cheese, you can get away with cheddar cheese, not as good but still nice if grated on top.
The main thing is to enjoy, and the sauces for pasta can be great fun to do and experiment with.

not sure why some others state this is not a bolognese sauce. It is. There are may regional variations even within the Bologna region. This recipe fits the description of a Bolognese sauce and very similar to what my people make who are from Italy...I would only add that it should be simmered longer than what this recpie calls for but Americans tend to rush things...

if you eat this at a good time (about 6:00 pm), and I think it is just half of the calories one human need for the day. So its very nutritious (has a lot of protein), I skip the wine, that will make less calories.

I must say it doesn\\'t look very good. But after the first bite it was great! Minus the wine and it was Fab.
Maybe I should just go for a jog after I finish... In fact I think I will go now. To many Calories 1,002 is to much. Don\\'t you think?

You could make this recipe into 8 servings really. If you don\\'t each serving is approximately 1/2-1/3 of meat. That is really a lot of meat per serving.

When I first saw the 1002 calories and 39g fat, I was floored. but then I noticed that it says \"serves 4\". What? The recipe calls for 1 lb. of ground pork and 1 lb. ground beef PLUS vegetables and liquids. That\\'s well over a half pound of sauce per person?
I changed it up by draining the fat (pork is extremely fatty) before moving adding the tomato paste. Also, I think there are enough servings for about 8 normal adults. Those 2 things should help with the calorie and fat counts.
I know the true \"definition\" of Bolognese includes carrots but I hate them so I put a few diced mushrooms and green peppers in it instead. So, I totally violated the rules of Bologna but, hey, I made up for it by keeping it on a low simmer for over 3 hours.

The name is ragú; if you ask for Bolognese sauce in Bologna, they will stare puzzled at you..

sister girl, you don\\'t know what your talking about. It IS a bolognese sauce!!

Bolognese sauce is a type of meat ragu that is meant to cook long and slow, Especially when the recipe calls for milk, which carmelizes when it\\'s added a bit at a time at the beginning on a low flame to give the meat a \"delicate texture\", cooking the sauce over the course of 3-4 hours; longer cooking times are not uncommon. This recipe sounds nice, however thinking you\\'ll end up with the same silky deliciousness that happpens after the previously mentioned timeframe is setting yourself up for frustration. I tried a \"short-cut recipe\" almost the same as this one. Results: nice sauce, but only isn\\'t it a bolognese.

It\\'s got the basic idea of a Bolognese Sauce, but its missing alot - mainly the cooking time. Most people wouldn\\'t ever think about making sauce for pasta and it taking a long time to simmer - easier to just buy a jar. But people cook to their palates. To each his own.

Dear readers, in order not to have a pale sauce, suggest to use dry red wine and eliminate the milk. Also, you could add some basil, oregano and some ground pepper or peperonccini to nourish the flavour and for sure use only olive oil. A zip of sugar will reduce the accity of tomatoes. Now enjoy it as you wish.

Use some good quality canned tomatoes and red wine, plus a splash of balsamic vinegar!
