Try using brownie mix instead of cake mix. Also you can use cheesecake mix for the filling. I\'ve tried the cheesecake in the brownies, they\'re awesome! Enjoy!

I make this with York Pepperment Patties and if you want to be creative, dye the cream cheese with green food coloring, we call them "GrassHopper Cakes"....I bet the Nutter Butter ones are good too...think I will try those.....

  • Good- but not original!

    Kristin B - August 8, 2007 09:55:40 PM PST
I have been making a similar recipe for years... however I make mine from scratch. This is an easy recipe for non-bakers. Here are some of the other ways I make these cupcakes:
Mix 3 tbsp peanut butter into the cream cheese mixture and put "nutter butter" cookies, cut in half, into cupcakes instead of oreos.
You can also try using the mint oreo cookies, and adding 1 tsp mint extract into the cupcake batter.

instead of whipped topping, I use a simple buttercream recipe. (butter, cream, confectioners sugar, vanilla)
