Cheesy mac and cheese covers this delicious beef casserole.
Make Ahead
Assemble as directed except for baking; cover. Refrigerate up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, bake, covered, at 375 degrees F for 40 to 45 min. or until heated through. Continue as directed.
Substitute
Prepare as directed, using thawed frozen Italian green beans.
This recipe was very quick and easy, but rather lacking in flavor. Next time I'm going to use more garlic and brown the garlic before the beef goes in. Also, drain the tomatoes! This came out of the oven really watery. And after you put the cheese on top, stick it under the broiler for a few minutes to brown the cheese.

The only thing missing from the recipe instructions is the nutritional value. ie calories, fat etc.

For those concerned about the calorie content, I substituted skim milk, low-fat cheese, left out the grated cheese that comes with the package. I also used Italian green beans instead of peas.
While I'm not exactly sure of the calorie content, it's still a great recipe and can be made low-fat.
(I also did not fry my ground beef in oil. I nuked it until it was done).

My mom used to make something like this all the time, except we used mashed potatoes instead of mac n cheese and called it Shepard's Pie.
