I loved this recipe. This was the best cheesecake I have ever tasted. I totally recommend this. Oh, If you don\'t like nuts, just scrap them from the recipe. Still tastes delicious.

  • Awesome Dessert

    Sai - December 16, 2006 11:24:38 AM PST
i have to answer an above question. The reason for all the Name Brands is because the recipe itself is from KraftFoods.com, hence all the Name Brands are from the Kraft family of foods. It\'s all about Advertising. I have tried other KraftFoods recipes and opted for Generic or cheaper brand names and the quality of the food just isn\'t as good.

  • Looks yummy!

    lilredcorvette94 - December 18, 2006 07:58:49 PM PST
massielsarmiento - try using any brand of vanilla flavored wafers or cookies, or even graham crackers, if you have them in your store. Should work just fine!

I love cheesecake, and anything with caramel all over it, so this should be good. Will try to make these for Christmas...recipe looks easy...

  • Easy and Good

    Shannon - December 18, 2006 10:18:07 AM PST
I made these for a family gathering and they were very popular. Many people asked what was in the crust and said the cheesecake was very good.

I think I cooked it too long as I wasn\'t sure what "until center is almost set" really meant -- I should have taken it out of the oven after 45 mins. The cheesecake tasted thick to me (my own fault for cooking too long), but it was creamy and not grainy like some cheesecake.

I will definitely make these again.

  • Best Cheesecake I've ever made

    James M - December 26, 2006 07:12:50 AM PST
I like things that are easy to put together. After your cream cheese is soft, it took me 15 minutes to put it together. My children don\'t like nuts so I omitted them, but added fresh sliced straeberries on top of each slice and WOW. It was like a explosion in your mouth, the sweet of the cheesecake and the tart of the strawberries. As I said it was the best cheesecake and easiest I have ever done. I have thought of many other things to use with this cheesecake, besides strawberries. I can really work with is one. Kraftfoods I give you a 10.

  • Generic May Work BUT.................

    Windstorm - December 18, 2006 06:47:01 AM PST
If you notice rarely do the generic brands ever post recipes like this. OK So Kraft might be a bit more than a generic brand BUT........that might be because they are using their money to test, taste and then share these fabulous recipes! This recipe ROCKS! Thanks KRAFT folks!

  • Guests Loved Them!

    sderum - September 19, 2007 01:59:36 PM PST
I don\'t bake very often, don\'t like the mess or fuss, but made these for dinner guests and got rave reviews! I am planning on making them next I have company. Could substitute a different topping or crust if desired.

  • Philadelphia is a must

    mystiqueek - May 1, 2007 09:03:04 AM PST
Not all brand names are hype. Philadelphia cream cheese always makes a good cheesecake. Cheaper brands often have a lot of gelatin or other fillers and the cake turns out flat and gummy.

Sometimes premium ingredients are necessary. But as for the cookies generic is fine.

  • I made these at Christmas

    bumpkin - May 1, 2007 05:35:20 AM PST
These are wonderful and fairly easy to prepare. The only thing is....for those who don\'t like the topping (I have picky eaters), the cheesecake (alone) requires 1/2 cup more sugar. I put the toppings in a separate bowl for PLAIN cheesecake lovers. This recipe is 5 stars nonetheless!!!! I\'m sure the caramel topping off sets the cheesecake with its sweetness..........

  • I gotta try this!

    Bonnie - April 30, 2007 11:47:29 PM PST
These sound incredible! I can, however, almost feel my arteries hardening as I read the ingredients! My solution to that is to substitute Smart Balance Spread for butter, Neufchatel (light) cream cheese, and light sour cream for the regular versions. To make it lighter, or even almost healthy, you could sub Splenda for sugar, and maybe even egg beaters for real eggs.
I also intend to get creative with toppings. Nix the nuts, and I could see using butterscotch, chocolate, or about any ice cream topping on these. Pineapple sounds especially interesting.
Anybody who knows their way around the kitchen will tell you, ignore name brands, it\'s all pretty much the same stuff when you get down to it (Sorry, Kraft!).
Hope this helps those with fat and calorie concerns! It\'s not too hard to make good food better for you, just use some healthier alternatives! Good luck!

  • Mini Cheesecakes???

    rositaf2001 - April 14, 2007 05:54:44 PM PST
This sounds like a great recipe. I haven\'t tried it yet, but love cheesecake with caramel topping. In the past, I\'ve made mini cheesecakes with nilla vanilla wafers in an aluminum cupcake liner. I baked it at 325 for 25 minutes and then topped it with canned cherries. I\'m going to try this recipe the as a mini cheesecake to see how it turns out. I love mini cheesecakes because you can easily taste test it and divide it amoungst your friends without having to cut it up!

  • This recipe looks yummmy, but...

    ChrisAinsworth - December 16, 2006 08:12:07 AM PST
...I\'m sure you don\'t have to make it with all of those brand names. I thought that was hilarious. Store-brand vanilla wafers, nuts, cream cheese and sour cream will work just fine.
