If you drop the Taco Bell crap it's pretty good. Use real tortillas from your market and real salsa. Avoid Kraft products, they're fake food, no taste and no nutrition.

MMM and then spice it up with taco bell seasoning. Authentic taco bell chicken tostadas. Get cloned chicken if available. I would also recommend some textured vegetable protein, for that authentic, taco bell flavor. If this really is a popular recipe, please shoot me.

tried this recipe the other night. the taco shell gets crispy when you toast it, then when you put the salsa (tomatoes) on it gets really soggy from the juices. i would recommend not toasting the shell, and maybe some refried beans or more cheese to help hold the toppings onto it.

Only thing I retained from this was how long to cook the tortillas. I've done without lots of the fake stuff and used fresher seasonings and ingredients and it was awesome and super quick for dinners and lunches. Change it up with different meats and veggies (I added peppers, mushrooms and onions; my favorite).

This is recipe is so quick and easy, not to mention very good. I used corn tortillas and they turned out excellent. Also very tasty left over!

Just cooked this for the two of us tonight. It was good.
We omitted the water. I am not sure why you need to add water...maybe just a little to help brown the chicken.
Also, stay away from that Taco Bell brand stuff.

If you want to do even better make it healty. Use some of the wheat tortilla shells, you can get them anyplace. The next thing to remember is that our friends down south use a corn shell more like the white corn shells you will find in your grocery market.
Next, get rid of the 1/2 cup water and change the tomatoes to Pace picante sauce or your favorite chipolte. Grill you chicken "dry" in a skillet in its own juice, you can sprinkle in a little water to help browning. Slowly add the picante or chipolte sauce and allow the main juice to create a rue. This will stop the "water" that makes the shells turn to mush.
I would use roma tomatoes, clean out the seed and juice and dice. Dice onions and add. If you like cilentro add a little. Maybe a little jalapeno depending on your taste. We don't care for jalapens but have found a little of the juice does add flavor.
Our friends down south laugh at out "mexican flavoring" seasonings, they taste nothing like what they prepare. Use a small amount of chili powder if you like but be careful, most brands are very salty.
Just a few insights from someone raised in "TexMex" land.

I have not tried peparing this meal. Why should I you ask? Because why cook when you can go to Taco Bell and and feed,in my case 2 people for under $6.00,we are seniors & get free drinks. Every thing we have tried there is deliscous.Best bang for your buck anywhere.Keep up the good work Taco Belle.

amazing product at a great value. maybe to chicken isnt fattening enough or its not deep fried enough, but for a small family it works out just right.

* Use whole wheat tortilla (example from Trader Joe's)
* Instead of Taco Bell seasoning, get some cumin seeds (cheaper if you buy from Indian or Mediterranean store instead of safeway)
* Toast the cumin and crush and then use as a seasoning agent along with some fresh peppers.
This does not really add any extra time to your cooking but gives better flavor.

I made this last night and it was pretty bland...don't bother wasting your money or time on this one. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when I saw the ingredient list...Taco Bell products????

Tostada...What a great dish! However.....Look there is nothing about this recipe that makes this dish a real tostada. From the flour tortilla (should be corn) down to adding Taco Bell seasoning ... What??? Taco Bell is not Mexican food but rather the United States approach to Mexican food.. You should be using fresh vegies to season the tostada.. Fresh chiles, onions, and tomatoes etc. .. and cheddar cheese.. what? ..That is not Mexcian..What a shame.. I wish people would actually try authentic Mexican foods before they go enjoying and thinking that Taco Bell Tostadas are Mexican.. Authentic Mexican Food is awesome.. Fresh and full of flavor.. This kind of stuff is American fast food quick mix from a box.. garbage.. Sorry I sound so negative.. but come on. If you want to try real ethnic foods let's get real here..

Another horrible recipe without authenticity. I believe this person must work for Taco Bell. Taco Bell flour tortillas and Taco Bell salsa? OMG! The thought makes me want to make me puke. Disgusting rippoff. This is not a tostada.
