  • Easy recipe for first time lasagna maker

    kelsey k - December 15, 2006 04:18:47 PM PST
The recipe was easy to follow and the ingredients were simple. I had a hard time spreading the cheese mixture evenly on the lasagna noodles though.

The parmesean cheese on top tasted a little odd, so I would leave that off next time.

  • Good, but needs flavor

    Dana H - April 23, 2007 01:49:01 PM PST
This recipe was good; however, my family tends to like the sauce more that the cheese...So, I used another jar of sauce instead of the water and added some Cavendar\'s Greek Seasong to it while it was cooking/warming up. By deleting the water, the lasagna sets up quicker as its not so runny and it has a more robust flavor. I saved whatever sauce was left over for anyone who wanted to put more on top. Also, I added a little parsley to the cheese mixture. And when baking, don\'t add parmesan cheese to the top until the last 5 to 10 minutes of cooking as it gets kind of burnt otherwise.

    devilsluvchild816 - January 20, 2007 01:04:35 PM PST
Sure this was easy to make, but it didn\'t have any flavor!! The meat sauce was watery and could have used some onions or maybe garlic? I wasn\'t too impressed

  • little more flavore please

    igotugoodufocker - February 26, 2008 02:15:55 PM PST
this recipie did lack on flavor. So... added to the meat, while it was browning, pepperoni, chopped onion, and fresh minced garlic. Instead of adding water try adding a white wine (charddonay) to get the rest of the sauce out of the jar. The wine will add great flavor but will mostly evaporate out of the sauce so it woun\'t be too runny.

  • it was good with modifications

    CiCi - May 29, 2009 05:50:12 PM PST
I had to add another half container of ricotta cheese to make it more spreadable. Minus the 1 cup of water that i substituted with a larger jar of spaghetti sauce

  • It

    aedouble - January 27, 2009 10:23:10 AM PST
I saw some people saying it wasn\'t very flavorful, but it turned out great for us. I\'m thinking it\'s all in the sauce you use. We are big Prego fans, and I used Prego Chunky Garden which had some mushrooms and green pepper. Enough veggies to make it flavorful, but not enough for my kids to notice and refuse to eat it! :) I highly recommend it.

  • A firmer lasagna needs more sauce, not water.

    lovelyloiri - January 10, 2009 02:32:43 PM PST
This is a good, simple recipe. This one time I\\'m going to share with you all how you can add some flavor to this bland basic recipe. My secret ingredient is to add a pinch of nutmeg to the ricotta cheese. Also add salt and pepper to your taste.I also add garlic and onion powder when I\\'m in a hurry. If U really want to jazz it up fry some diced onion and three cloves of garlic with the hamburger or use crumbled Italian sausage. And ALWAYS boil the noodles first and bake without a cover so it gets those nice browned saucy corners!

I found this recipe to be fairly easy. But what I do is when I make my sauce I make a double order and freeze half of it. I plan the day I am going to make lasagna and I take it out the night before. That also helps cut down time with this recipe and gives it more flavor. Then I use a little more cheese and garlic to my family\'s liking. After I have made it a few times now I have tweeked it to taste pretty darn good.

  • is it just me?

    j_mina70 - November 1, 2008 05:15:39 PM PST
This recipe isn\'t much more jazzed up than on the no boil lasagna box. The portions were the same. I tried it and found that I didn\'t have enough meat or ricotta to spread. Using a dish that size I think the measurements are not enough. Plus I was looking for a simple lasagna recipe but with a little wow in flavor. This isn\'t it. Still looking.
