I made this recipe and I would rate it a "three" - tastes great but the recipe is a bit off. For one thing, these will not bake fully in 20 to 25 min at 350 degrees. More like 35 minutes. Also, if you use a tablespoon of the cream cheese filling per cupcake - you will run out of filling before you run out of cupcakes! A teaspoon each is about all you will have enough filling for. Lastly, I would suggest just putting enough cake batter in the bottom of the paper cup to cover the bottom, then the pie filling and cream cheese, then topping it with just enough cake batter to fill the cup 2/3 full. Otherwise, be sure to bake your cupcakes on a cookie sheet, they will run over the top of the pan and drip. Flavorwise, these are very, very tasty. Shared them with friends and got asked for the recipe, by someone who doesn't like to cook but wants to give these a try!

If you want to make this low-calorie, instead of making the cake mix with eggs and whatever else you need, use a can of diet sprite instead. So just use the diet sprite and the cake mix. It tastes pretty much the same without all the extra calories. I swear this works! This is the only way I make cake now. I'm on Weight Watchers, btw, and it's a WW trick.

I made the whole thing using regular cupcake cups and instead of using a tablespoon i used a teaspoon. Putting two cherries inside the cupcake, and later two on top one can of pie filling was just enough, also using a teaspoon, the cream cheese filling was just enough to fill them all. As far as baking time 27 minutes was perfect. I also used choc. frosting instead of the cool whip.

These cupcakes were great, although, I did change the recipe a bit. Instead of cherries, I used rasberries and I also made a white chocolate frosting (wonderful, at kraftfoods.com) instead of cool whip. They were very rich but also very tasty. Remember that using the paper baking cups is a must- without them the centers sink to the bottom.

They were the most disgusting thing. Don`t even come close to anything Black Forrest.
Don`t make it if you`re thinking about Black Forrest cake.

my first 2 dozen just came out of the oven. Baked great at 350 and I had a touch of the creame cheese filling left over for the next 2 dozen batch [saw this at work today and everyone wants some tomorrow after I showed the recipe about *lol*]. Excellent cupcake idea!

You can cut down a bit on the calories by subbing unsweetened applesauce in the cake mix, using the Neufatchel cheese and fat free whipped topping. You can also sub raspberries in splenda (makes it's own syrup if you let them sit in the fridge for a bit) for the cherry pie filling. I'd also suggest cutting the egg out of the cream cheese mixture and subbing powdered sugar for the regular sugar.

I made these for my mother's 60th birthday party celebration. i used 1Tbls. of cake batter, 1 Tbls. of cream cheese, and 2 cherries in each cup, then covered them with remaining cake batter. I had extra cream cheese, but only enough cherries to put one on top of half the cupcakes (12). i used dark chocolate frosting so they could sit out in the sunny warmth of the picnic and they were great. everyone was very impressed that I had made them. they weren't complicated at all. I will definately make these again.

I made these for my family and they just loved them. I sent the rest to work with my husband and of course the guys there loved them too. Two of them asked for the recipie. Very easy to make. Probably need to double the cream cheese mixture , I used mine all up before I got them all done. Can't use the full measurement listed either, there's not room in the cupcake for all the stuff. But great tasting and everyone loved them.

This recipe is awesome. We used the diet sprite neufchatel (low-cal and low-fat cream cheese) and we didn't use cool whip (too sweet) so it was ultra low-cal. We also used raspberries instead of cherries. Delicious. And REALLY EASY!
