  • Gingerbread boys & girls

Tenn. Lady Vols Fan - December 11, 2006 12:50:58 PM PST
This is a custom at our house to make gingerbread boys and girls and cut little holes in them and hang them on the tree.
This recipe is so easy compared to the way I use to make them.
Using the butterscotch pudding is a great idea.
    We just love them!

    Marla C - December 11, 2006 08:13:45 AM PST
YUMMY! Can\'t wait to decorate these. Can\'t believe the "unhealthy" reviews...if that\'s the case...why were they looking at cookie recipes? It\'s Christmas, let\'s splurge!

  • Very tastey and so easy to do

    Missy - December 22, 2006 08:44:49 AM PST
I must admit when I saw I was to use Butterscotch pudding mix I thought...ew! But I\'m always willing to give most things a try and boy am I glad I did!
These are not only moist but surprisingly they don\'t taste at all like butterscotch! They are sturdy enough to hang on the tree and soft enough to eat by the handfuls:) They are definitely on our holiday baking list now.

  • Not as great as more thorough recipes.

    fashiondisaster101 - December 21, 2006 02:46:10 PM PST
I made this recipe as a test before I made real gingerbread cookies. Yes, this recipe was easy, but I found that the more thorough recipes bake a better gingerbread man.

Also, if you do decide to use this one, make sure you only bake them for 8-10 min, NOT 10-12 minutes.

I love it and it is really nice i will share it with my daughter she likes to make cookies. I am from Antigua west Indies and I am delightful in having something new for christmas.I loved it. The cookie of itself is not to stiff nor crumbly it\'s just right and i can recommend it to anyone.

  • One too many steps....

    Patricia K - December 27, 2006 09:14:15 AM PST
This recipe is perfect for great gingerbread men! The only thing I didn\'t like about this recipe is that if you follow the directions EXACTLY, there is absolutely NO need for refridgeration. Just roll it out and off you go! If you put it in the fridge, it gets too hard and you can\'t roll it out, it crumbles and you have to wait for it to get room temperature again so you can roll it out. Otherwise, great for decorating and if you cook it a little less than recommended, you get super soft chewy delicious cookies.

  • Yummmmmmmmm

    Nancy Jeffers - December 22, 2006 12:34:47 PM PST
I put applesauce in my gingerbread and it makes the taste a little smoother. Try it and see if you don\'t love it too. I use it instead of the oil.
    Thanks

  • Looks good!

    Nicole - December 10, 2006 06:58:39 PM PST
I haven\'t made them yet but they sure do look good! I usually don\'t like my cookies to be crunchy and those look nice and chewy.

  • Making it Every Holiday!

    complexoreo - December 24, 2008 05:28:11 PM PST
I used this recipe, and everyone loves it!
The gingerbread cookies are good without any
    decorations, and still yummy with.

I can\'t wait to make this again - especially
this Christmas. Make sure to beat well after
each addition, or else the dough turns out
    slightly... different, I guess (:

  • Love this recipe!

    Christina - December 24, 2008 08:46:31 AM PST
I found this recipe last year on Yahoo and made the cookies - I LOVE THEM! This year I have already made several batches of cookies. I can\'t keep them from my husband! They are delicious and a great gift for my son to give! They can be personalized by decorating them to your liking. Make sure you have enough time allocated - the one hour fridge time needs to be considered beforehand. Well worth it!! Yum Yum!

  • Lower fat/sugar version

    Philippinoburrito - December 19, 2008 06:59:26 AM PST
I substituted the butter for smart balance oil and the pudding mix for the same kind in sugar/fat free. They turned out perfect

  • outstanding

    Jamie K - November 12, 2008 02:45:20 PM PST
    I\'ve never made cookies I had to roll out and cut from dough. I also have never made gingerbread cookies...I guess I found that all a bit intimidating. After making the recipe, I made it again the next day--it was that yummy, simple and FUN! I don\'t care for the taste of butterscotch either..go figure! If only all wonderful recipes were as easy to find;

  • Great

    Judy - December 24, 2007 11:20:25 AM PST
This is a great recipe! My family loves these. I used christmas cookie cutters and made trees, bells and snowmen. Then decorated them with icing like a sugar cookie YUM! Another thing is I NEVER cook cookies as long as a recipe calls for this way they stay soft. I cooked them 8-10 min and they stayed soft! Very good.
