2. Cooking Directions

  1. Cut wieners in half lengthwise with sharp knife, starting each cut about 1 inch from one of the ends of each wiener. Roll each wiener one-quarter turn and cut a second lengthwise slice in wiener, again starting about 1 inch from the uncut end. (This will form 4 "legs" of the "octopus.") Using a small knife or kitchen scissors, cut each leg lengthwise in half, about 1 inch from the uncut end, creating a total of 8 legs in each wiener. Poke 2 holes into the uncut portion of each wiener for the "eyes."
  2. Add wieners to pot of boiling water and cook as directed on package, watching each wiener turn into an octopus right before your eyes. Meanwhile, prepare Dinner as directed on pkg.
  3. Spoon Dinner evenly into 4 small bowls; top each with an octopus.

Yield: 4 servings

I thought your idea for octopus mac and cheese was the best. It is so creative in these times where kids are so picky. I think this should be a hit with any child. Great job

  • cute but true

This is a very cute idea....and my children do like this ...but only on occasion as a treat....but the nutrition information is incorrect...I am looking at a box of kraft mac and cheese as I write this and they are as follows:

    Calories: 290
    total fat: 2.5g
    (saturated fat : 1.5g)

    cholesterol: 10mg
    Sodium: 580mg
    Total carbs: 49g

I again do think that is a cute way to encourage the most picky eaters (and i do have one) and i do agree that if we are going to post something for someone to try....we should include correct information....but on the other note.....we should all be aware of what we are putting into our children\'s mouths as well as our selves with out being told....

  • Nutritional info is WRONG.

One gram of fat? If you\'ve made Kraft Mac and Cheese you know the box calls for 4 tablespoons of butter. That\'s 400 calories alone and over 40 grams of fat. Was the nutritional information taken from the hot dog alone? This is cute, but it\'s not healthy in the least, especially for kids. The nutrition information on this page really needs to be changed to truthfully show what\'s in this recipe in regards to fat and calories.
