  • Try This to Velveeta Chili Dip

    brenda h - December 31, 2006 02:19:44 AM PST
Another option to add to this recipe is, if you add one pound of hambuger meat fried and drained, one can of mild rotel tomatoes and one can of chopped tomatoes(drain juice from this can).Adds to the number of people you can serve too.

  • Ditch the Velveeta

    hokfota - February 3, 2008 11:12:49 AM PST
A more simple, and better tasting version of this dip is to use a brick of cream cheese and a can of chili. It's an easy one to one ratio. Microwave, and stir. It's done.

Beats Velveeta dip any day, hands down.

  • Needs A LOT of help

    brad y - February 3, 2008 09:09:59 AM PST
1 can of chili isn't near enough for 1lb. of Velveeta. If you only want chili with the cheese add 2 cans, but I would recommend adding more than just chili. As some other users have already said, a can of rotel diced tomatoes and chilis would also go well. Some Pace or other brand salsa makes this dip excellent. Much better than chili alone..

  • Alternate recipe

    n7mk - February 3, 2008 11:42:22 AM PST
Here's the one we like- 1 lb of Velveeta; 1 can of Ro^tel diced tomatoes and chilis (or spice it up a bit with Ro^tel Extra Hot); add 1/2 can of tomato soup and 1/2 can of mushroom soup. You can add browned ground beef or sausage if desired, we usually don't. Put cubed cheese in crock pot on high until it begins to melt. Lower heat to low. Add Ro^tel, and soups as the cheese melts. Then add meat if desired. This recipe has been a huge hit at our parties.

  • Recipe not complete - add chopped green chilies

    GARY M - February 3, 2008 11:49:28 AM PST
Call this "The four c's recipe

    1/2 pound cheese
1 (block of chili- Not canned)(Canned is yucky)
1 small can green chilies - chopped)
    Package of plain Doritos

Heat ingredients in a Fondou Pot. Will mix quickly and also keep left overs warm. If you do not have a Fondou Pot, heat in a double boiler which will also keep left overs warm.

  • Try This-- It is Irresistable!

    Kristina H - February 3, 2008 11:34:12 AM PST
The chili recipe is ok, but we make another version of this dip that everyone loves.

1 Lb fried and drained ground sausage

    1 can of Rotel

    1 16oz block of Velveta

Every time we have a party, we make this dip. The sausage has more flavor than ground hamburger.

  • yikes

    Frances H - February 3, 2008 11:27:58 AM PST
fat, sodium, preservatives... how about this:

Grated cheddar (NOT velveeta, just some generic sort you grate)
    1 Can red beans, rinsed
a little beef stock to simmer the beans for 10-15 minutes, then mush 'em
    chili powder/cayenne to taste

whip it all together and pop it in the microwave

shazam - great dip, and it's not hyper-processed 30% fat and loaded with sodium

'course it might take 20 minutes instead of 5... you can live with that!

  • bad stuff

    stopyoyodieting - February 3, 2008 12:07:10 PM PST
Velveeta is bad stuff for the heart everything, it is not real cheese it is bad stuff to avoid using other words.

You still manufacturer it but only the kind of people getting obese on MacDonalds and other bad foods that I know of eat it.

No one who knows good foods eat it.

Why would you or even Yahoo for you publishe this.

  • velvetta chili chip

    skippy - February 3, 2008 11:13:18 AM PST
It's far better and healthier (if you can call it healthy) to add a 12oz can of Rotel. But then we'd have to change the post's title to, "VELVETTA

  • Velveta Cheese Dip

    Faith H - January 29, 2008 07:54:58 AM PST
I always add a pound of cooked breakfast sausage to the melted Velveta. You can add more to your liking. Is always a big hit no matter where I make it. You can also add Rotel tomatoes if you'd like.

  • BEST VELVEETA DIP RECIPE

    t_ballmom74 - February 3, 2008 02:02:20 PM PST
Here's a dip that will always have them coming back for more. I use a crockpot with this for even-heating and serving.

1-1.5 lb. Ground Chuck (leaner beef)
    1 xlg. block Velveeta Cheese
1 jar favorite variety Salsa (chunky is best)
    1 bag Tortillas

Start your crockpot on high and cut Velveeta into 1 inch cubes and place in crockpot. Next, heat a skillet on medium heat with a little olive oil (healthier), and brown until cooked thoroughly. Drain meat on paper towels as best as possible. Now, combine the meat and salsa into the crockpot with the Velveeta , and stir every 2-3 minutes until mixture is consistantly creamy. Serve with tortillas, and enjoy!

  • this is good but.......

    bel_fiore73 - February 3, 2008 01:43:06 PM PST
if you take the velveta (2 of the big blocks) 1 lb of regular sausage (mild or hot depending on your own taste) along with diced tomatoes (can use the rotel to give it a little spice) and put all this in a slow cooker you can keep it hot for the whole game and add tortilla chips and it feed the crowd

  • No Way!

    heth365 - February 3, 2008 12:56:10 PM PST
Personally I can't stand velveeta, but this is worse than it straight. I agree others; use cream cheese if you must mix, and ground beef, ect works as well. To kick it up, get one of those creamy cheese spreads (I like the roasted garlic one) and mix some beef in that. Very rich, creamy, and doesn't taste like you're eating processed wax.

  • It

    David B - February 3, 2008 12:43:04 PM PST
This is very easy to make and it's delicious when it comes right out of the microwave. Unfortunately, once it cools off, it becomes very think and difficult to scoop up on a chip. If I make this again, I will use more chili and not so much Velveeta cheese. I think the cheese is what caused it to be way too think once it cooled down. Other than that, it's easy and delicious as long as it's hot. I found myself reheating the bowl for my guests.

  • that

    William L - February 3, 2008 12:40:08 PM PST
If you do have time to cook some meat, though, it's well worth it.

I personally like pork (patty style) sausage instead of hamburger (though, that's good too). Green chile is great in it, of course

This was something that was always traditionally made around Christmas in my family. It's great on hot-dogs, too!

  • Soooo GOOD!! Try it with....

    sailorklf - February 3, 2008 12:35:26 PM PST
I have been serving this recipe forever! While it is delicious with tortilla chips, it is BEST served with the scoop fritos! They hold up much better to the weight of the chili and gives a better flavor to the dip...so easy and EVERYONE loves it!!
