1. Ingredients

  1. 1 package (2-layer size) white cake mix
  2. 1 cup boiling water
  3. 1 pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O Brand Gelatin, any flavor
  4. 1/2 cup cold water
  5. 1 (8 ounce) tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

2. Cooking Directions

  1. Prepare and bake cake in 13x9-inch baking pan as directed on package. Remove from oven. Cool cake in pan 15 minutes. Pierce cake with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.
  2. Meanwhile, stir boiling water into dry gelatin mix in small bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water; carefully pour over cake. Refrigerate 3 hours.
  3. Frost with whipped topping. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until ready to serve. Cut into 16 slices. Store leftover cake in the refrigerator.

Yield: 16 servings

    ok, ok, so I\'m a classically trained professional chef who graduated from a prominent culinary school with honors. I\'ve had a great career and only stellar reviews. The above desert is like my secret shame. I could never admit to loving it the way I do (although real whipped cream is much better than cool whip any day!). My mom made that for me as a kid and all I can say is that it freakin\' rocks! I\'d make it for myself if I wasn\'t trying to fit into my soon to be wedding dress and also I\'d never live it down if anyone found out...
