  • What is wrong with you people????

    Jazmyn - April 25, 2008 08:41:36 AM PST
As a matter of fact I have run into quite a few people that do NOT know how to make grilled cheese sandwiches! So, lay off, if you do not like the recipe then don\'t look.. omg how hard is that? Instead you intimidate the ones that are trying to learn? Way to go! Do you feel better about yourselves now? We need more basic recipes without all the fancy crap that scare off the people that just want to learn. I spend more time showing the basics and then saying now, when you get this down you can add other ingredients according to you and your family\'s taste.

Now, for the ones that want some ideas. Instead of spreading the butter on the bread. I actually through in on the pan so that the bread is tossed onto melted butter, and I butter both sides, not too healthy for you but tastes really good. I also will sprinkle a little garlic powder to the butter. I have a friend that swears by coating the inside with mayo... not too sure about that one, but will eventually try it.

Also, for you newbies, if you want to try something daring, put a slice of cheese on each inner slice of the bread, spread some pizza sauce and chopped pepperoni, then close the sandwich continue with your grilling. mmmmm mmmmmm

  • One of the best food ideas!

This is one that you can eat as an adult but still feel like a kid. Remember, ALWAYS pair with tomato soup. Although, if you want to be daring, try dipping in ketchup! Yummy!

  • Cooking spray

    Bambi - January 12, 2009 04:24:32 AM PST
I usually don\\'t use butter I use fat free cooking spray on a stove top grill. The sandwich still cooks up just as well just not as greasy.

This is what I do when making a grilled cheese sandwich,I put the cheese on the bread then spread a dab of mustard over the cheese then put the other piece of bread on top and grill it like usual.
    It tastes so good!

  • this is the first thing i learned to cook

    Lisa m - July 28, 2008 11:32:53 AM PST
My mom taught me and my nephew very young to cook grilled cheese sandwiches and that is the first think i\'ve taught my daughter to make when she was young. Try a piece of ham or Bologna in it also. Very good.

And to think I actually clicked on this recipe thinking maybe there was some new twist.... yeah... STUPID!!! You take 2 pieces of bread, put some cheese between them, butter the outsides and fry till golden brown. Wow... rocket science. And to those people who are "protecting" the morons who don\'t know how to make a grilled cheese.... get a life. Your sympathy doesnt make you a better person. It only makes you naive. If someone truly doesnt know how to make a grilled cheese, and they are not 4 years old, they have no business any where near the kitchen. All they\'ll do is cut their fingers off or burn the house down. Its that simple. OMG yes it is. Like totally OMG!!!

I have to admit, I\'d never considered the idea of doing a large batch of them in the oven. May have to see if that works sometime...

I so didn\'t know how to make a grilled cheese until I saw this! Now I have an awesome easy lunch recipe!

Almost as good as Joan River\'s recipe for buttered toast in a cookbook I have in my kitchen!!!

I guess it would just be fast food for me without all these great recipes!!!
