  • Hot wing recipe(simple)

    cor3720 - February 2, 2008 12:12:20 PM PST
Not sure on the exact measurements, but just make them to taste. In a skillet or pan mix the following ingredients:

    4 tablespoons of butter
12 tablespoons of Franks(can be purchased at grocery stores)
    4-5 tablespoons of tobasco
    1 capful of vinegar

place ingredients in a pan and bring to a simmer for a few minutes . You can taste test to see if you need to add ingredients. Be carefeul, it will be hot(fire hot also)

We deep fry our wings then put them in a tupperware container, with the hot wing sauce, then cover with a lid. We then shake the tupperware container getting the sauce on the wings. When you open the lid, be careful as the steam from the wings will cause air build up in the container.

    Hope this helps

  • BUFFALONIAN

    JASON C - February 17, 2008 05:59:43 AM PST
Mix 1 cup melted butter with 1 cup Franks red hot sauce. Deep fry wings, without tips. DO NOT BAKE! Toss wings fresh out of the fryer with sauce. Serve with celery, blue cheese and a tall glass of beer! This is the ONLYacceptable way to make Buffalo wings. And by the way, no one said they were healthy- but in Buffalo we have a thing called exercise... especially when you have to dig your way out of several feet of snow!

You gotta have the butter and hot sauce (preferably Frank's) to call them Buffalo wings.

  • Ketchup?!?!?!?!

    qonc1 - February 27, 2008 06:49:47 AM PST
See Buffolonian for the correct Buffalo Wings recipe. The wings should ALWAYS be fried to be authentic. Anything else is just a variation, but will not yeild the proper taste. Someone at Food and Wine had way too much time on their hands and thought they could make something better.......They didn't!

  • Why bake when you can deep fry

    Steve - February 25, 2008 02:25:24 PM PST
I gotta agree with everyone else deep frying is the way to go with wings and when it comes to coating, franks red hot and butter reduced down is the ticket

  • This is not Buffalo anything!!!

    blondie92_99 - February 25, 2008 01:51:08 PM PST
Frank's makes a buffalo sauce that is all ready to go. It only something like 5 calories a serving. I love buffalo chicken wings and sandwiches so I make my own at home, that way I can control what goes in or on it. Frank's does rock, it really is the only way to go!

  • Try this ...

    Kim E - February 18, 2008 08:06:49 AM PST
Try grilling / smoking the wings on your pit. Mix a couple tablespoons of butter with plenty of Louisiana Hot Sauce and about a teaspoon of horseradish (or to taste). Toss the hot, smokey wings in the sauce and have at it. I find em to be a little less fatty this way.

  • No Way

    cr22 - February 16, 2008 10:56:57 PM PST
ketchup??? Give me a break! These are not Buffalo Chicken Wings.

My best hot wing sauce is to boil down some Frank's Red Hot with a little butter and red pepper flakes. Franks out of the bottle is to thin to stick to the wings. Toss in a splash of Anderson's Fire Bayou Super Fiery Hot Sauce to get the heat where you need it.

  • What is the butter and hot wing sauce recipe?

    bradultican - February 1, 2008 11:09:53 AM PST
Does somebody mind posting a quick recipe for the butter and hot sauce wings? I googled it and came up with a few, some fried them before simmering in butter and sauce, some cooked them in butter then added sauce, which is the one evryone here is referring to. Big fan of Frank's Red Hot and would love the recipe. And thank you in advance.

  • REAL WINGS

    shollidaywilson - January 30, 2008 08:50:06 AM PST
I actually have never tried this recipe and never will. NEWSFLASH: what you need to make Buffalo wings is hot sauce and butter! That's it, hot sauce and butter. I am from Buffalo, believe me, this is all that is ever used. There may be a variation on the type of butter or hot sauce, but this is it. If you want true Buffalo wings, melt butter, mix with equal part hot sauce. You can bake or fry the wings. After wings are fully cooked, mix them with the sauce and let them sit for a few minutes. THEN YOU WILL HAVE BUFFALO WINGS

  • THESE ARE HOT WINGS

    Bob - February 29, 2008 05:57:01 PM PST
Don't ever confuse Hot wings with BUFFALO WINGS!!!! The things that make Buffalo Wings great are the history, tradtion, and the ingredients. They are prepared in ONE way and they're NOT BAKED. You can travel all over Buffalo, NY and find several different variations to the flavor of Buffalo Wings, but you will NEVER find one that will disgrace a Buffalo Wing the way this article just did.

  • The best sauce...

    T D - February 29, 2008 03:57:55 PM PST
I usually reduce a 12oz bottle of Frank's Redhot sauce over low heat until it thickens to a consistency that I know will stick to the wings.

Once reduced, throw in about a 1/4 cup of butter or less - depends on taste and stir in. Make sure not to let the butter seperate by using a high heat... slow and steady mixing over low heat does the trick.

Throw in some paprika and red pepper flakes...

That's it. Not much to it.

  • Buffalo Hot Wings recipe

    poundsalt2002 - February 29, 2008 02:23:24 PM PST
Who came up with this recipe ? Gross!

It's pretty simple, mix equal parts of Franks hot sauce and butter, and add a splash of white vinegar . Add some tabasco if you like your wings hot.

Once you have fried your wings, ( you can bake them if you wish but not suggested) put the wings and the sauce mixture in a tuppware container and shake. Serve with Celery and Blue Cheese dressing ( ranch is ok if you don't like Blue Cheese).

This is the true recipe for Bufffalo wings

  • The best way to make hot wings (notice I didn

    jsmsb - February 28, 2008 11:19:42 AM PST
Deep fry wings in peanut oil. Mix Texas Pete hot sauce with butter ,1/4 cup of parmasean cheese, and 1/4 cup of granulated garlic (not garlic salt, and not garlic powder) in a separate bowl and heat lightly on stovetop, stirring occasionally until butter melts. When wings are golden brown, dump them in hot sauce mixture, getting all the wings covered with sauce. Remove with tongs and serve with celerly sticks and chunky bleu cheese dressing. Man that's good!!!

Try using ACHIOTE with the butter and hot sauce mix (Franks). It'll give it a much better taste and finish.
