  • Wrong ingredients

Well... there is a small problem with this recepy.
In Greece we don't use lemon juice, romain hearts and vinegar in this salad.
We use tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, oregano, feta cheese, salt, onion and olive oil. As simple as that. Anything else is not a Greek Salad.

  • Not Real Greek Salad

    rumblebee05 - August 7, 2008 05:58:02 AM PST
I lived in Athens for two years, in the suburb of Glyfada, had Greek salads many, many times. From Thessalonicia to the Pelaponise and never did I have one quite like this recipe!
The Greek salads I had were made with; tomato wedges, cucumber slices, olives, red onion and feta cheese with extra virgin olive oil drizzled over. Usually served with thick slices of fresh bread.
Never was in a restaurant that used lettuce in their salad.
This recipe sounds good, but not authentic!!

We've visited Greece many times and this recipe is for anything else but Greek salad. In some areas they also add green peppers.

  • The greek salad

The succes for a great traditional greek salad is the virgin olive oil the traditional greek feta cheese (that made from 70 % from sheep and 30 % cow milk). oregon and salt must be used. onion too.

Yes, this is not real greek salad. The name should be changed to Americanized Greek Salad or something like that
