... a review of the recipe. Loved it! It was a nice, light, easy to make mid-week meal, and my husband and daughters have asked me to make it again. Thanks to EatingWell.com for a winner!

This was really tasty. It wouldn\'t have taken long to make at all if I\'d used instant rice...and I didn\'t have any real trouble with the recipe. I\'ve been planning on making this for awhile and I finally got around to doing it for lunch today--it was a smart choice.

Might I add to the vegetarian who made the comment about this not being a vegetarian dinner because of the eggs...The name of the recipe is "Vegetable Fried Rice" not Vegetarian Fried Rice. Therefore- the eggs are fine to be included in the recipe.

I just looked over the recipe and I\'m going to try it sometime. Also, to the person refering to themselves as "Title", I myself am going vegetarian and vegetarians do eat eggs. It\'s vegans that don\'t.

First with the recipe, cook the rice, Start the vegs. Get the veg portion hot, the rice hot, mix the two so all is hot, then drizzle in the egg. Slowly with stiring. I admit it\'s easier, to cut scrambled eggs in, but if you do it this way you get the flavor distributed in a much better way. Small ribbons of seasoned egg though out.
For every one else:
Vegan is nothing coming from anything living. No honey, no leather clothing, if the earth didn\'t give it up, you can\'t use it or consume it.
Vegatarian means no flesh. Not of fish, or fowl, not even of an invert (e.g., no scallops or orysters), no FLESH. Products coming from an animal are fine, as in milk, (and it\'s derivitives, butter, cheese,) as well as honey, etc. Most vegetarians consider eggs fair game. They are a product of chickens. Technically most vegetarians are ovo/lacto (eggs and milk).
I draw the line when someone says "I\'m a vegetarian, because I don\'t eat red meat." I\'m a vegetarian because I only eat seafood." If you eat the flesh of a living thing you\'re not, IMHO a vegetarian. Eggs and milk products acceptable.

My husband and I love this recipe. I add pork cut into 1/4" pieces and sometime use broccoli instead of asparagus. The rice vinegar and sesame oil really add to the flavor of the dish.

This is a great recipe. Substitute olive oil for canola oil to make it even more healthy, and throw a grilled chicken breast on top to pack it full of protein and you have a great post-exercise meal.

I love the color of it and it looks delicious. I can\'t wait to try it.
On a side note, I can\'t believe a rice dish can bring out so much controversy amongst people. Eat it, or don\'t eat it... who cares.

well, I was pleased to use UNfertilized eggs in this delicious recipe. No fertilization, no baby, right?! :D I mean, if we were really meant to kill, decimate, and eat only veggies, we could eat them all raw and unseasoned and without sauces to make them palatable and pretty. Then the asparagus would have been a killjoy in this recipe. But technically, I\'m an ~omnivore~ -not just some carnivore-, so I enjoy all kinds of living things killed, grilled, and in my gut --TASTY!
The brown rice is a definite plus over regular white stuff. I\'d bet most blue collar Americans don\'t stock fresh ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil on a regular basis [even tho they shuld -- it really makes a diff]. I probably wouldn\'t have bothered w/ the asparagus in this recipe --green beans are a fave here--, and i like my dead, lifeless veggies chopped smaller than in slices. I also prefer the full-sodium version. I\'d list a few more tweaks, but alas- i need to go slip my slinky omnivore figure back into my Catwoman costume before dh gets home to this awesome meal...... enjoy!

I am really excited to try this recipe. I couldnt help but continue reading onto the drama of the reviews haha. I am a vegan, but rather than turning others off to veganism you just make the recipe without the eggs. Just because a recipe would say vegetable fried rice, it doesnt say vegan or vegetarian rice. My opinion is to be a happy vegan looking for no arguments quietly making the recipes vegan (you can use tofu scrambled eggs). It is great to be happy that you are a vegan/vegetarian, but dont let the pride get in the way of the mission: saving lives. You want to make veganism an easy thing where meat eaters would actually consider changing their diet; not to guilt trip and correct them every chance you get. Anyway, I am sure this will taste great!!

I never thought that I would be able to make any kind of fried rice dish. But what I did was combined this recipe with the mushroom fried rice recipe and it cam out awesome. I have actually been craving it ever since and think I might make it again this weekend.

I take it that this vegan has eyesight problems or needs to go back to the first grade and learn to spell. Or it could be the lack of meat/protein causing problems.

If a vegetarian comment pisses you off, hate to see you guys deal with the more serious issues of life. Exercise, get out of the house, go out to dinner, get a new job, play with your kids, smoke a joint,do something anything BUT please get a grip!

This is why we live in the kind of world we live in. People fighting over silly stuff, such as vegetarian and not vegetarian lifestyles. Then we ask ourserves why the Middle East natives cannot live in peace, and why are we fighting a war that is not ours. Tolerance and respect for other individuals lifestyles would be a great start.
I have not try this recipe, but after reading the reviews, and how most people that have try it react to other people\'s points of view, I think I\'ll pass...

NO no no.
Vegan-Eat no meat, no seafood, no eggs, no dairy.
Vegetarians- No meat including eggs. Dairy is OK.
Those who eat eggs are not true vegetarians ( even though they may proclaim they are) - they are lacto-ovo vegetarians.
You may eat meat- but you wouldnt eat dog meat would you? Same thing!!! Small differences but big deals.
And wrt the name of the recipe - it may be technically correct but it is a little misleading.

I usually don\'t waste my precious time blogging. I\'d rather be cooking a fabulous vegan recipe, to prolong my good health and long-life. But, ever notice how AGGRESSIVE CARNIVORES are. I read the other comments, and from "Vegetarians suck," to "Vegetarians Shut up," it kinda sounds NAZI to me. I think meat eaters get mad at Vegetarians/Vegans, because we are their conscious. We don\'t ingest anyones cut up body parts with a creamy sauce on top!!! If we were meant to eat meat, they could eat it raw and unseasoned and without sauces and veggies to make it pretty. And, they\'re jealous because we Vegetarians/Vegans are slim, trim, healthy and our body doesn\'t smell like to rotting flesh that\'s in their tummy\'s at night. OK, well, this is my blog. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
