  • Yummy Yummy (and a quicker way to prepare)

This recipe was really good the sauce is nice and tangy. I had to modify it a bit because I didn\'t have honey or tomato paste (used maple syrup and some reduced stewed tomatoes). Also the sauce was a touch thin so i threw it some corn starch. And since I didn\'t have 5 hours to stew I just shredded the raw chicken and threw it in my stock pot. About a half hour or so later it was piping hot and ready! I served it on some grilled onion rolls with a light corn salad, it was deeeelish!

  • White breasts

I used chicken breasts instead of thighs because my wife likes white meat (not that you could tell) and it came out fine as well.

  • LOVED IT!

    Jackie - June 25, 2008 09:54:31 AM PST
I followed all the directions exactly and it came out great. Except at the end after I pulled the chicken apart I put it in a bowl and added maybe 1/2 a cup of the gravy and 1/2 cup of bar-b-q sauce. Served on buns with cole slaw on top the chicken was great. Very impressive meal!

  • So easy, so delicious

    Melissa - September 26, 2008 08:26:29 AM PST
This is seriously about the easiest recipes I\'ve ever tried, and one of the most seriously delicious. It\'s truly fantastic, I think the barbecue flavor is spot-on, the chicken is incredibly moist, the sauce is the perfect consistency for pulled chicken - pulled chicken is not supposed to be in a thick sauce! The only change I would make to the recipe is that 5 hrs is a bit too long a cooking time, 4.5 hrs is more like it.

About any bbq chicken recipe is good for ya,depends on the extras you add.One lady wrote "sauce to thin"yet she used maple syrup instead of honey, duh;and one person wrote that this wasn\'t true bbq because they thought bbq should be smoked, not necessarily true.Your taste buds will tell you whether or not this is good bbq or not;My opinion is it was pretty good ,but you could use your favorite bbq sauce with 1/4 cup of water ,to help marinate chicken while cooking.Good Luck!!

  • great recipe

I used chicken breast as well. I also used a little brown sugar instead of honey with the apple cider vinagar and took out some of the heat as my kids don\\'t like things too spicy

If your day is so full from kids and pets that you can\\'t take five min to put this in a crockpot maybe you have to many pets. This is one of the easiest recipes I have seen. But if is to much trouble KFC.

Where\'s the smoke. Barbecue is smoked meat.

  • Not that great

    krystalknight04 - September 7, 2008 09:28:21 PM PST
The chicken was really tender and juicy but this sauce is just lacking something that I can\'t quite put my finger on. Like another person said, the sauce was way too thin. I think I would rather marinate the chicken in BBQ sauce and grill it.

  • Sounds good...

...but rather than honey I think I will try Agave Nectar...mmmm....BBQ. As another wrote...you don\'t need a grill to make good \'BBQ\'...The finished product is most important.

I\\'d like to know how on earth a real mom who works, has pets, kids, and a life is supposed to throw this together mid-week. This is absurd. You market this section as easy dinners for the week.

Joy\\'s easy dinner for the week, cube some chicken
