  • It was a huge sucess!

    Emo23Kitten - March 9, 2007 10:03:21 AM PST
There are seven of us heading out the door in the morning, so breakfast is always a hassal. I was cautious to use tofu, the kids don\'t much care for it, but I figured I\'d give it a whirl and if they liked it, tell them later. It was a huge sucess! Even the six year old thought it was great (even after I told them all it had tofu) and they ask for at least two or three times a week now. And it\'s so easy, and very dish-washer friendly. Definately something that will go in my permenant recipe book.

Instead of using Tofu,Try using Low fat or fat free frozen yogurt. Instead of apple juice use water and add some crushable ice to it. This will cut down on Carbs and sugar and you will still have a great tasting smoothie..I sell these in my shop. Add a little protein powder to it and you have a terrific meal subsitution

  • Um, how big IS that banana?

    moxiemight - July 24, 2007 12:49:21 PM PST
    According to my calc:

1 cup frozen mixed (unsweetened) berries = 77 cal, 20 gr of carb, 10 gr of sugar
    1/2 cup apple juice = 58 cal, 13.5 gr of sugar/carb
    1/2 banana (~roughly 1/2 cup smashed) = 100 cal, 25 gr carb, 14 gr of sugar
1/4 cup silken tofu ~ 33 cal, 1 gr carb, 1 gr of sugar

That comes to: 268 calories, 60 gr of carbs, 39 gr of sugar.

How big is that banana that the recipe maker is cutting in half???

  • I guess I am confused..good or bad?

There are 90g carbs in this diet. I am concerned not about whether or not I would like it , it sounds great. But is this the kind of smoothie that would make me feel like I will need a nap in a couple hours, or will I be good to go? I already have sleepiness problems at work :)

this recipe is great with a few special ingredients: fresh lime juice and a bit of ginger. really gives it a zing. although you may have to bust out the juicer to get these two in there it\'s worth it! 2 limes and a decent amount of ginger.
