  • Yummy!

    dragonfly - April 21, 2008 01:51:48 PM PST
I made this for my family and they LOVED it. dear hubby didn\'t even know it was Tofu! We love whole wheat pasta... and he and our daughter love olives with their pasta. I always add my own touches of spices with fresh basil, garlic, and italian seasoning.
I say don\'t knock something until you try it. My husband doesn\'t like tofu.. and liked this. my 5 year old loved it. it as yummy and healthier... a win win recipe!!

  • Finally tofu is entering the mainstream!

    n_joonta - May 22, 2007 01:56:42 PM PST
I have been making these lasagna rolls for years, and making lasagne with tofu instead of ricotta cheese - it is delicious and has a ton less fat - so glad to see this vegetarian dish on Yahoo! Food.

  • Delicious!

    Emerald M - December 26, 2007 02:39:56 PM PST
These wonderful lasagna rolls made a spectacular addition to our Christmas dinner. The tofu in this recipe just makes the dish healthier and appropriate for everyone in the family. I will definately add this to my recipe box and highly recommend that you do so as well. Thank you.

  • Lasagna is yummy, but instead of tofu put vege hamburger meat in it.

    montserratmcarthur - May 1, 2008 04:26:44 AM PST
Your just fooling yourself into thinking it\'s cheese when you use tofu. Just don\'t put it in. Use vege hamburger meat.

  • Interesting

Let\\'s not fool ourselves here though, tofu has plenty of fat. Veggie hamburger is heavily processed. Use sparingly.

  • WONDERFUL!

    salvarengas - September 30, 2009 11:24:37 AM PST
My husband loved this dish! I substituted ground turkey for the tofu and red bell pepper for the kalamata olives. Definitely worth making again! I didn\\'t use the red pepper because my husband doesn\\'t do spicy but it was absolutely delicious! Definitely making this dish again!

  • Sounds Good

    tennischica - April 21, 2008 01:45:51 PM PST
I was thinking that doing the rollups would be extra work.. and I would think this recipe could also be layered like traditional lasagna and baked in oven.

  • Surprisingly good

    Du Sav - April 21, 2008 01:38:49 PM PST
I added some salt and black pepper to the tofu/spinach mixture (but very little salt). It turned out delicious. I used Firm Tofu for the tofu, but I think soft would work as well (but not silken).

  • No tofu, meat

    neveragaincenter - May 8, 2009 12:51:04 PM PST
The roll ups were lousy with the tofu. The following week I made it with very Hot Italian sausage and ground meat. It was a hit! Girlfriend and the my adult sons loved it.
    Try it with real meat.

  • COULD HAVE FOOLED ME!

    vallekid5 - October 20, 2009 01:00:30 PM PST
My hubby refuses to eat tofu but he had no problem eating these and then asked what was in them, after the fact. He had NO IDEA. Highly recommend giving these a try. Cut time by buying the wide, already cooked noodles. Super easy and yummy.

  • Be Careful

    spearce04 - October 19, 2009 01:41:35 PM PST
I usually always follow these recipes to get me through the week. Something new all the time. I ended up making this for lunch. It was good until I finished the meal. I was on the toliet every 3.5 mins. I think it was from the tofu., not sure though. This meal made my stomach boil for about 4 straight hours. All over a meal. Please be careful.

  • I liked it!

    imonlythiE1 - October 21, 2009 02:07:42 PM PST
Ok, so it was my first time making a lasagna dish of any kind and I think it turned out, alright.
I guess I shouldnt have gone for such healthy ingredients, but I added my own twist. I bought a can of Chili from my supermarket and added it to the filling, which, obviously made this less healthy, but added a nice kick to the plain old tofu and spinach filling. I just had to make sure I mashed the canned chili well enough because it became harder to fill the rolls if it was too chunky.
But overall, it was a good recipe. Tastes best when you eat it after it\\'s just prepared.
Good luck to everyone who tries it in the future! :)

  • Good flavor, a little heavy on the pasta

fast food kills - October 19, 2009 11:11:50 AM PST
The filling seemed chintzy to me. I like a little more filling and less pasta. Love tofu in dishes like these.

Overall a good recipe. Next time I will try for 1/2 cup in each pasta roll.

  • Tofu

    DEWEY - September 23, 2009 12:28:08 PM PST
To cut down on carbs, I sometimes cut x-firm tofu into ravioli size squares and add them to my simmering spaghetti sauce.

  • A big hit!!!

    ptazad - March 2, 2009 12:33:48 PM PST
I made these the other day for my husband who is a picky eater and a super lasagna lover! I used ground beef instead of the tofu (although I can\\\'t wait to try it again and actullay use the tofu) and added a tablespoon of cottage cheese to each roll. They were AMAZING!!!! Very filling, beautiful presentation and great the next day as leftover! Thank you!

  • Delicious

    mel - November 6, 2008 11:58:54 AM PST
I made these last night and they were awsome. I substituted ground beef for the tofu and left out the olives and they came out great. The garlic came out to be a little strong so next time I will probably only use 2 cloves but either way they were good and even better as leftovers. Great Recipe

  • Great!!!

    Danielle E - May 6, 2008 09:44:06 PM PST
I didn\'t get to use the tofu because I didn\'t have any. I used ricotta but I can\'t wait to try it with tofu. It was sooo yummy. I didn\'t use all of the ingredients and added some other little things. Definitely great tasting and easy to make. My three year old helped me. She loved rolling up the noodles. Seriously, it was really really good!!!

  • Yummy! Don

    kitty - April 21, 2008 03:24:30 PM PST
We\'ve been making variations on this dish for a while. It\'s fancy enough for a special dinner but easy enough for weeknights. I like this version - the kalamata olives and red pepper give it some zing.

For those who don\'t eat cheese, substitute nutritional yeast for the parmesan. It gives it extra nutrients while adding that "cheesy" flavor. If you don\'t like jarred marinara sauce, make your own.

    Yoli - February 25, 2008 07:59:37 PM PST
recipes don\'t always have to be done as written, real cooks know how to add their own flare

if you don\'t like the tofu, and like spniach- add some chicken
if ou don\'t like euther, don\'t make it- make somethin completely different
change it up, don\'t bash it... you\'re free to make changes

i never thought of lasagna in a roll, before- it might be nice with pulled pork, too and bbq sauce... chicken and green peppers.... pepper steak and marinara with parmsean or mozarella... maybe even with rice?

  • the reality of our plain tastless mouths....

    pienegeltona - February 22, 2008 06:55:14 AM PST
I never wrote a review before, but this time i couldnt hold myself..
Have you noticed that people who cooked these lasagna rolls loves them, and these who just read the recipe thinks its discuisting? Once again it just shows how people dont have the taste.. You can give someone a glass of red wine and then a glass of white wine mixed with red food colour in it and they wont taste the difference!

  • PRESS THE WATER OUT OF YOUR TOFU AND MARINATE IT BEFORE YOU COOK IT!

    TO-
    dhallpdx - April 10, 2008 12:35:32 PM PST

well, it seems your friend forgot to press the water from the tofu....it is actually really good when it is prepared correctly.

i\'m tired of inexperienced people turning others off of tofu just because they\'re too lazy to press all the water out of it!

  • EASY?

    hywellda - October 20, 2009 01:57:49 AM PST
I open a title that tells me there are 7 "EASY" recipes inside and expect veracity.
I don\\'t expect something as simple as "open package #1, microwave on high for 4 minutes, open package #2, add to contents of package #1 and microwave an additional 2 minutes, spice and serve.",
    HOWEVER,
I don\\'t expect to open several cans and packages, grate cheese, chop garlic cloves, olives, spinach, boil pasta, etc etc etc!

    THERE\\'s nothing "easy" here.
It takes time to open, grate, chop, boil, sautee, not to mention organizing the containers and measuring cups and washing and drying the whole mess afterwards.

You might as well stew your own tomatoe sauce instead of opening up a jar. It\\'s just as "EASY"!

(grumble grumble gripe gripe thanks for wasting my time Yahoo!)
