  • A slight change on this recipe

    Brianna H - July 24, 2007 01:33:34 PM PST
I read about a similar recipe in SELF Magazine which I actually enjoyed more! Blend 4 cups seedless watermelon with the juice of 1 large lemon, a few ice cubes, 2 tbs sugar, and 1-2 fresh mint leaves! Serve over ice!
The mint is the real trick - it makes the drink more refreshing! It is now my family\'s favorite summer drink! Enjoy!

  • Finally a recipe!

    Autumn - June 19, 2008 01:02:53 PM PST
I saw this recipe years ago and loved it. Glad I can finally have something with measurements to give to friends. Try freezing the watermelon instead of using ice or as much ice.

  • Au Naturale Watermelon

Bill Clefage: Duh! - June 19, 2008 06:47:27 PM PST
Taste test the sweetness of the watermelon before adding any extra sugars. I found most fresh water to be full of juicy natural sweetness and there is no necessary to add any sweetning agent.

  • One slight change

Use simple syrup rather than sugar. It mixes better than sugar in cold beverages. One part sugar to one part boiling water, stir until it becomes a liquid. I keep a container of it in my refrigerator for all cold summer drinks, like Ice Tea.

  • So many ways to drink watermelon, so little time!

    MaryJezebel - August 10, 2008 06:42:40 PM PST
A great way to eat the watermelon that is a little grainy or over ripe. I used honey instead of sugar and sweetened lime juice for mixing drinks. Yum!

  • Nice Surprise

    rncdubois - July 28, 2007 02:44:37 PM PST
What a great way to use up leftover watermelon! I actually had previously cubed and frozen a bunch of it....used that and omitted the ice altogether. Upped the water a little, replaced the sugar with 2 T Splenda Also, as Brianna had suggested, I added 2 mint leaves. That made all the difference.
    I don\'t see why you couldn\'t add a little vodka and make a melon-tini...

  • altered it a little

    jferstok - August 2, 2007 06:25:17 AM PST
I substituted one cup of the watermelon for some fresh pineapple and added a single serving size dannon la creme vanilla yogurt. Very yummy and quite tangy for a morning meal. A peppy way to start my day!
