  • So easy & so yummy

Great sweet treat without so much guilt.
Just make sure the strawberries are dry before dipping them in the chocolate, otherwise it won\'t stick. Also don\'t refrigerate the strawberries afterwards, it\'s much better if the chocolate has hardened in room temperature. I also spray my plate with a nonstick spray before placing the strawberries on there, that way half of the chocolate won\'t stick on the plate when you go to eat\'em.

  • A few things I do...

    Janet S - March 4, 2008 08:28:09 PM PST
I love to make these in the summer... and they vanish quickly!

First, I melt the chocolate in the microwave... I set it for about 30 seconds, then stir, then another 30 seconds and stir... depending on how many chips you are melting will determine the time. The reason you have to stir them often is that they retain their shape even though they may be melted. If you do not stir them up, you\'ll not know when it is melted until smooth... and therefore, you will burn the chocolate.

Second, instead of a cooking spray... I place them on wax paper placed on a cookie sheet... and unlike others, I do place them in the refrigerator briefly... to dry the chocolate quicker.

Third... whoever above said to dry the strawberries first is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! It makes a huge difference! I think I discovered it by mistake... but... the only mistake is if you forget to dry them....

Fourth... if you can somehow inject them with Grand Marnier Liquour.... it will just be like icing on the cake... If now, just pour a little and enjoy....

    Bon Appetite!

Yummmyyyy!!!! The best desert and my consolation is that the chocolate has antioxindants and the strawberries have vitamins!!

  • Not informative at all

    First L - May 28, 2007 10:39:17 PM PST
Just melt chocolate in the microwave and dip strawberries? There is so much room for error in this recipe. How long to microwave chocolate? What to do with the strawberries after dipping? No tips on how to keep the chocolate from clumping? Sorry, but I could have written a better recipe and I\'ve never even done this before.

If you are melting chocolate in a microwave - you\'re going to want to melt it in 20 sec. increments stirring each time so the chocolate doesn\'t burn. As for the clumping, keep moisture out of the chocolate and you should be fine until the chocolate needs to be remelted. I find it helpful to place the dipped strawberries on parchment paper until they harden (they won\'t stick). If you really want the chocolate to set nicely you\'re going to want to temper the chocolate (not just melt it).

    Enjoy!

  • Chocolate Covered Strawberries

    mkcratty - April 14, 2008 02:25:11 PM PST
I melt 1/2 white almond bark and 1/2 chocolate almond bark and mix them together. Mix well for light chocolate or just swirl for swirl cover. Dip rinsed and dried strawberries and place on waxed paper till chocolate sets. Only takes a few minutes and enjoy! Delicious!

I make these when company is expected they love them!!!! I melt the chocolate in the microwave ( just a tip) if the chocolate is clumpy and not smooth add a very small amount (a few drops) of vegetable oil to the chocolate and re microwave it will come on smooth. If you are looking for a fancier look Dip them in dark chocolate, let it dry, then melt some milk choclate and drizzle back and forth on top of the dark choclate. They will look like Gourmet Style Strawberries and your company will love em!

  • Chocolove Strawberries!

    sberkhoff - March 10, 2008 11:26:06 AM PST
I used the stove, just because I\'ve never been a huge fan of microwaves. I double boiled the chocolate with it resting in a pan that was in a pot of boiling water. I melted 2 bars of Chocolove 65% rich dark chocolate for my "premium chocolate" and then dipped strawberries. I was easily the best I\'ve ever had.
I strongly encourage you that you don\'t bother with refrigeration after dipping. Just let cool at room temperature and then EAT THEM ALL!

  • Much Easier on the Stovetop!

    loveneverfails0305 - November 17, 2008 04:26:36 PM PST
Ive always found that melting the blocks of chocolate is much easier and makes for less clumping than melting in a microwave. All you have to fill a metal baking dish with a little water and place it under a burner and then put a small sauce pan in the dish of water. After that is heating up, place the chocolate in the sauce pan and stir every few seconds.

  • Helpful Hints

    momluvstorock - October 15, 2007 01:14:51 PM PST
Don\'t use high quality chocolate for this. It is hard to get pure chocolate to melt at the perfect temp without burning or clumping. It\'s best to use the chocolate for candy making. You can buy it at most party stores or craft stores where they sell Wilton cake and candy supplies. It\'s also best if you wash and dry the strawberries first and let them sit at room temp before dipping. If they are too cold the chocolate will harden too quickly. I dip them and then set them on wax paper or foil to cool.

  • More info needed

    Jo - March 4, 2008 05:55:46 PM PST
It would be helpful to tell people to be careful of how they melt the chocolate, not to get any steam or water into it by using the microwave or a water bath kept below boiling. Also if you add a bit of butter to the chocolate it will be shinier and look better. Rest the dipped strawberries carefully on wax paper before consuming and eat promptly. They don\'t hold well.

How big of a f***ing idiot do you have to be to need a "recipe" to make strawberries dipped in chocolate? Its common sense, first melt chocolate, then dip strawberries in it. I can\'t believe somebody actually felt the need to write thist sh*t down.

Not very helpful if you don\'t tall how long to microwave the chocolate. Or what to lay the strawberries on after dipping. Just microwave and enjoy? It could be a lot more informative.
