  • Great!

    ktshadley - July 4, 2008 07:13:49 PM PST
I\'m vegan, so, I substituted the egg for a flax egg which also adds antioxidants. The dough was also a bit dry like a crust dough, but I added a little bot of soy milk and it became cookie dough consistency ans these tasted great, not like most whole grain cookies I\'ve made, very good, slightly crumbly texture, but I like it. I\'ll definitely make these again.

I didn\'t tell my 12 yr old son they were "healthy" cookies and were made with wheat flour and oats. He couldn\'t tell the difference. He just said MMMMMM you make good cookies mom!

  • SOOO GOOD!

    courtneymichelle60 - May 29, 2008 04:07:55 PM PST
I loved these since they were easy to make, and didn\'t take a lot of work, and were amazing. Llike the other comments, add some walnuts, or your favorite nuts to the cookies for extra flava.

  • Family loved them!

    jckiecnly - May 19, 2008 05:49:23 PM PST
I tried this recipe as an alternative to regular chocolate chip cookies and they are delicious. I subtituted the sugar for splenda and did the same for the brown sugar and they were still great!

  • Definitely the best

    p789orion1216 - February 11, 2008 02:54:00 PM PST
This recipe is so easy and relatively healthy that it\'s the only chocolate chip cookie we make any more. Sometimes we add chopped nuts and ground flaxseed meal, maybe even a little orange zest. Absolutely the best texture!

  • Good hearty cookie

    Rebecca S - February 11, 2008 06:51:42 AM PST
I really liked these. These cookies are not as sweet as a classic chocolate chip (like a toll house), but I don\'t feel there is anything missing. The dough is very flavorful. I generally enjoy baked goods made with whole wheat and oatmeal because they have a hearty, almost nutty flavor.

  • Wow! what a great cookie

    mandy_steele - February 6, 2008 07:35:28 AM PST
I love this cookie. I made a few variations, I used raisins and nuts and butterscotch morsels. I also substituted the brown sugar with splenda and ground my own wheat. My husband even loved them and he will not eat anything sugar free.

    lskater1 - February 2, 2008 07:00:27 PM PST
I made these cookies with my eight year old daughter who eats nothing and she absolutely loved them. I added some cinnamon to the batter and she ate them right up and I felt good giving her something a little healthier than the store bought version.

    Thanks for this recipie.

  • totally eliminate the sugar

    sonjamassage - February 2, 2008 06:04:12 PM PST
we use agave or maple syrup in place of sugar. also use some whole grain. both will eliminate a spike in glucose level.

  • reeally incredible

    daffnieduk - February 1, 2008 02:10:15 PM PST
I literally just made these cookies using this exact recipe, altho for the brown sugar portion, i used half splenda, half brown sugar (but still the same amount of white sugar) and of course...i added extra chocolate chips...and used light butter instead of regular...but this recipe is INCREDIBLE. i was shocked at how they turned out. I was expecting them to taste really grainy and wheaty, but they taste no different from real chocolate chip cookies using regular flour. thanks bev for the awesome recipe. I\'ve been trying healthy cookie recipes and all of them have been disasters except for this one!

  • not sure

    blue_love_london - May 15, 2007 10:29:07 AM PST
Ive just put the first lot in the oven, the mix was very sticky and difficult- although that is probably because I don\'t have an electric mixer. The mix tasted good and they smell nice, so hopefully they will taste wonderful!!

  • What is the serving size?

    sandieg35 - October 26, 2007 05:46:38 AM PST
The recipe gives calories per serving but does not tell the serving size. For those of us counting calories it is important

  • This is my favorite recipe!

    nini - July 27, 2008 07:12:50 PM PST
I love it, the Oatmeal and Wheat flour make it more wholesome, and I use coconut oil instead of canola for an extra hit of flavor and health. Thanks for submitting the recipe, I love it!

  • Serving Size!

    tweetypie417 - February 2, 2008 08:24:49 PM PST
To answer the question...the serving size is 1 cookie...Discovered this on eatingwell.com...the recipe makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies (30)...so if the recipe makes 30 servings and and 30 cookies, there is 1 cookie per serving...so really the recipe itself is not diet-worthy or any healthier than "store-bought" or regular cookie recipes...unless you substitue, as suggested by several other users.

  • Now tell me...

    kinghatchepsut - October 13, 2007 05:19:37 AM PST
I haven\'t tried the cookies, but I\'m sure they\'re great. Cookies, by definition, usually are. So I\'ve gone ahead and given these the same star rating as everyone else. BUT WHAT IS A SERVING? One cookie? Yeah, right. Two? Four? Sixteen? (Now we\'re talking.) When providing a recipe like this, tell me how many COOKIES it makes, and then tell me how many servings that is. If you want to be coy, at least give me the option of doing the math.

  • good tasting, better for you

    david - February 5, 2008 08:16:06 AM PST
To user upstreet 24: If they were too healthy then why are you even baking cookies in the first place? Go to the gas station and get some high fructose corn syrup dosed up nappy cookies and enjoy your limited taste for food.

  • How are cookies healthy again??????

    kinneytj74 - July 16, 2007 11:37:15 AM PST
Good recipe, but isn\'t it a little ridiculous to be putting cookies in with the healthy recipes? Sugar, oil, chocolate...No wonder we Americans are getting shorter and fatter... The so-called health experts are even plumping us up!
