To lower the fat content even further, substitute the oil for apple sauce. It creates the same effect and you cant taste it. Its my favorite baking trick.
This recipes sounds amazing! I too am going to cut out a few things and try substituting them for low cal or sugar free products. I just wanted to inform the person that mentioned whey low, actually I just caught this write up about it: "I read the list of ingredients. It says: Sucrose Fructose Lactose You know what that is? It\'s sugar. It\'s all sugar. Nothing but sugar. There is NOTHING low carb about this product. This is one of the most egregious misuses I have yet seen of the "net carbs" concept."
I thought the liquid was too little for the flour sugar mixtures and could not drop the dough with a spoon but had to make into balls. otherwise they taste superb. Suna Mizrahi
I was looking for a recipe that was different, but knew my husband loved chocolate chip cookies. Came across Bev\'s Chocolate Chip Cookies and decided to try them. The whole family loves them. Cutting back on the sweet is great and does not take away from the cookie. If anything, it lets the other flavors come out more and "share the applause."
I have tripled the recipe and the cookies still came out just great with no adjustments.
This is now my husband\'s favorite cookie and they are so easy to make. Adding the healthy aspect does not hurt either. I didn\'t tell my family they were healthier until after they loved them. Now there is no turning back.
...substituting 1/2 cup of the flour with a 1/2 cup of ground toasted almond (or hazelnuts!) for those of us without allergies to nuts, of course, makes this cookie splendiferous, adding flavor, protein, and nutrients. I also cut down on the sugar by a few tablespoons, but would not recommend substituting with Splenda. YUM!
If you need to get your craving for cookies and sweets in but don\'t want all the fat included, try to substitute apple sauce in for butter. It has no fat, and way less calories. Personally I think it tastes better too.
I added walnuts, and some Benefiber for some added benefits. I also recommend cutting down the cooking time to about 9 or 10 minutes and pull the "Mrs. Field\'s" trick of not cooking the cookies all the way through so they stay excellently moist.
i just made the cookies, the taste is great, just like the ones we buy but they were too flat and crunchy since they had no \'height\' at all. in milk they will be amazing i am sure! maybe i had to grind the oats less!

The posting says the serving size is 30 cookies. That can\'t be right. It also says it serves 30. There must by a typo. EatingWell.com or Yahoo must fix this immediately.

Delicious, but taste pretty different. They have a bit more of a nutty flavor to them than regular chocolate chip cookies.
Took a different route and used chocolate chunks instead of chocolate chips. If you do that I recommend adding a little bit more oats, and slightly more oil to keep the dough moist and workable.
I also tried the applesauce trick by replacing the butter with it. Worked pretty well. Really brought out of flavor of the oats.
And instead of granulated sugar and brown sugar, I used 1/2 cup of natural demerara cane sugar. It\'s flavor is a bit more bold than regular sugar, so you don\'t need as much. It\'s also a natural (and in my opinion healthier) alternative to chemical sweeteners and sugar substitutes.
I was worried about only using whole wheat flour (I usually substitute half and half), but these cookies were AMAZING. Defnitely unexpected and the recipe makes just the right amount. Highly recommended!!!
Expanding on the idea of using Splenda or a Soy base product... we substitute Brown Rice Syrup as a sweetener. Going even further... one can also use Karob Chips in place of chocolate chips and then you virtually have a totally healthy cookie you don\'t have to feel guilty about eating a dozen!!
I used applesauce instead of butter, and added 1/4 cup toasted walnuts. I also used 2/3 cup mini chocolate chips instead of regular. The cookies dont spread too much, but definitely have height. Bake on parchment paper for about 10-12 min. Very tasty if you like a nutty taste. I also didn\\'t grind the oats, I just threw in 1/2 cup quick cooking oats and 1/4 cup rolled oats as is. Great crunch on a chewy cookie!
My family just loves this cookie recipe. I make it all the time and always comes out great! I only bake the cookies for about 8-9 minutes so that they sare soft and chewy!! This is now a family favorite!
Could be made sugar free
