the best lasagna recipe I have made. Made double batch and frozen it individual portions. Used just the beef and sausage. one of the simplest and easiest recipes.

I wanted something a little different to make for Christmas dinner. So I decided to try this recipe for Simple Lasagna. At first I thought it might be difficult, but I was wrong. Although I left out the veal and pork it was very simple and easy to make also delicious. This is one that I would keep and make again!

Mix an egg or two into the cheese mixture, and a couple dashes of cinnamon - sugar. I add dried crushed mint also.
That is an old Italian recipe from my family - all the rest is just fine for Lasagna, there are so many ways to make Lasagna, that the person who said something was missing, well then when you make yours, add what it was you thought was missing.
Personally - its fine as is - but I like the eggs in the cheese makes it fluffier!! binds to the noodles too!

The cream-tomato-meat sauce lacks any flavor with it\\'s blandness, with only a touch of salt and black pepper. Perhaps if you are serving small children, the elderly or maybe Midwesterner with no sense of taste adventure this may be a good recipe. For anyone with a taste for a little actual Italian spice flavor you must include some Italian herbs and some red and white pepper in that mix. Pre-seasoned Italian sausage, found in most places, would make a interesting and more lively taste than just cream, tomatoes and meat as well.
Also, why do so many lasagne (It\\'s spelled with a \\'e\\' on the end people!) recipes call for adding sauce/meat in the first layer of the pan when the first layer is a pasta layer, as clearly shown in the photos?

Wow! it was great! Thou I did run into some problems. Like... I was really confused about \"heavy-bottomed Dutch oven.\" I don\\'t cook that much, so like... I thought that meant the oven ... or but figure it was the stove after putting it in the oven. And the third step ((cheese/egg mixture)), I can\\'t figure out how it would end up 3teaspon per sheet. I ended up not having enough.
besides all that. I LOVE IT. it was great. Both of my friends really enjoyed it too. I\\'m definitely going to keep this recipe. Thanks!

I love lasagna, but never had a great recipe! This is so yummy and easy. I have made this 3 times so far and my family loves it!

2.5 ounces block Parmesan makes about 1 1/4 cups grated; 16 ounces block mozarella makes about 4 cups grated. The ingredient list is accurate and the end result is quite delish!

This is a really great recipe but if this is simple I\\'d like to see a complicated one....hmmmm

add a package of drained chopped spinach to the ricotta mixture - adds color, a bit of flavor and a LOT of vitamins ~

I looked at the ingredient list, I don\'t see anything missing, and I only see a couple typos in the recipes. What are so may of you fussing about. If you don\'t like the recipe, don\'t make it. To me it sounds great and will try it first chance I get. Oh and of course is not healthy, it\'s lasagna silly. No one expects it to be healthy.

This was a very good recipe for lasagne. I truly enjoyed it and I have given the recipe to all the ladies in my family who fancy a good chunk of lasagne! Furthermore, without all those ingredients, it would lose it\'s savor...good job, good recipe. Thanks again.

I\'ve cooked a lot of lasagna through the years, but never with such a simple sauce and no-boil noodles. I made this recipe last weekend for a potluck party, and I had a lot of compliments.
The fresh basil in the ricotta was lovely.
I did have a problem correctly portioning out the mozzarella for each layer, such that the top was covered with 1/4 cup, but it still tasted great!

I cannot not find "no-boil" lasagna noodles in our local store. None of the clerks there had heard of "No-boil" They have regular lasagna noodles. Could someone explain the difference between the regular noodles and the "no-boil".
Any response would be appreciated.

Don\'t get me wrong, this looks like a delicous recipe and i intend to try it but the name is misleading. Just because you can build it ahead of time does not make it simple. Call it Three Meat, or just Hearty Tomato. Maybe Hearty Tomato Gralic. You got me all excited about "Simple" Lasagna and then left me hangin.

Come on? Give this recipe wizard a dictionary so that they can get the definition of "simple". You want simple, here it goes.
1. Look up the number of your favorite italian restaurant
2. Call them and order lasagna
3. Pick it up
4. Take it home and eat it!
Now that couldn\\'t be simpler!

The recipe does not match the ingredients at all. I spent $40 bucks on the ingredients for this recipe. I refused to pay for "whole milk" mozzarella, because you could only get it in "small balls" at $8.00 a whack, would require two of them and then shredding them yourself, that would make this recipe a $56 meal. The recipe starts off wrong by cooking the "onion and garlic" for two minutes and then add the "garlic"...............and on and on and on. The proportions on the layering are so off, it is a joke! (You can almost double what the recipe says, and you still end up with more layers than they say!
Who was drunk or on drugs that wrote this recipe? I almost subscribed to "Cooks Illustrated" magazine, but am sure I am glad I DID NOT.
It took me about two hours plus to just try to prepare this lasagna. At this point it was too late for tonights dinner. Threw it in the refrigerator and will bake it tomorrow. I have to say that the sauce had a good taste, but if this turns out a total bomb, I will be writing again.
By the way.........go to cooksillustrated.com and try to reach them....good luck other than a billing problem!

I saw "simple lasagna" and got excited. No way is this simple. All these ingredients? As somebody else said, I can make one with 1/2 the ingredients in 1/2 the time and it\'s easily just as good.
I do the "empty the sausage casing and brown" like somebody else posted.
For ricotta, you can sub cottage cheese, but make sure it\'s small curd and drain it.
All lasagna noodles can be cooked dry if you are sure that your sauce gets on all the edges; there is no need to buy special secret noodles.
If you\'re a veg, use zucchini and fennel to get a sausage-y taste.
This may be a lasagna, but it\'s not simple at all.

I have to agree with Hunter - how can something with so many ingredients, many of which require special prep, and extra planning to have on hand (who has 1/3 pound of ground pork and ground veal in their fridge?) be called "simple"?

Hi folks, i\'m italian and lasagna is one of my favorite dishes and perhaps the best thing i can prepare by myself. The ingredients as described in the original ingredient list are quite fine except for ricotta cheese. But the whole process to prepare lasagna is tremendously ridiculous... "Sauce can be cooled, covered, and refrigerated for up to 2 days"...have you ever eard about fresh made food?? 1 star just because i couldn\'t give a half.

You\'ve GOT to be kidding!! Simple....OK, right. 19 ingredients for lasagna is NOT simple. It may taste great (haven\'t tried it), but I can make it with 1/2 of these ingredients, and it will taste just as great, if not better.

hi! as i read over the ingredient and the procedure der r really some mistakes like the following:
1. 1/2 teaspoon table salt
teaspoon alone is understandable enough w/out the table
2. the word pork in the recipe becomes fork in the procedure.
those was the one i noticed and was confused. so, wat i did is do some adjustment. and the repeatation of adding the garlic and onion. i think putting garlic makes it brown, smell fragrant, softened & it can go together by putting it once but not twice. it makes the viewer confuse or somethingelse. well, by dat i just think dat we r just human who really make mistakes. we accept it. nobody is perfect. der r times dat we do mistakes.
