I made this recipe for Christmas Eve for my whole family. I have never made Lasagna before. It was easy and tasted wonderful! This is now a favorite dish in my family!
For those people who put that some ingredients were missing, you need to read more closely. I had no problems!

I\'ve experimented with several different lasagna recipes and this one is probably the best I\'ve ever tried. I didn\'t use the recommended meat selection, instead I used 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 bulk italian sausage and it worked out fine. I will definitely make this again.

It is a good recipe, there just seems to be s small typo, you add the onions, then 2 minutes later add the garlic. What it says is "add the onions and garlic and then 2minutes later add the garlic" So it does say to add it twice, but I am pretty sure that it is just a typo. No need to be harsh for this. Anyone who does cooking should know that garlic will burn if you cook if you cook it the same length as onion.

I am constantly making new dishes but when I found this recipe in my Cook\'s magazine I stopped searching for the perfect lasagne recipe. And an added bonus is this is not a complicated dish. I have my triplets, age 7, help. I make the meat sauce while they mix and measure the ricotta mixture and shred the cheese. They form an assembly line and assemble this dish with such ease its amazing!

In the note, by \'meatloaf mixture\' they mean stores often carry a ground beef/pork/veal mixture (in one package) that is supposed to be for meatloaf. I always get it for my meatloaf and it is delicious.

How can a meal called simple have 19 ingredients? And I am going to call my local grocery meat department for a special order of 1/3 pound of three different ground up meats. Where the heck is the simple?

I am a Nigerian who lives in Nigeria. I love to experiment with foreign dishes because i love all types of food and my boyfriend is British.
I got all the ingredients except for ground veal and Ricotta cheese, so i used 1/2 of ground beef and 1/2 of ground pork. This recipe was easy to make. Didn\'t have any problems at all. The food was tasty, delicious and yummicious. I loved it. Thx for making this recipe available.
I have added it to my favorites and will prepare it regularly.
P.S. What should i use in place of Ricotta Cheese?
Thanks a lot.
Vera.

I have never cooked lasagna i got this recipe because my boyfriend wanted me to learn how to do it. Needless to say I didnt even know what some if the ingredients where. But the wonderful people at albertsons helped me find everything i needed to make this lasagna. To make long story short it came out great! The instructions where so easy i was done in about an hour. I really recomend this recipe to people who "like me" have hardly cooked and need easy recipes to do this one should be on top of the list!

I read all the reviews and I must say that there is a large differance of opinions. As there should be but one caught my eye and I would like to say this. It is simple and easy. As far as the 1/3 lb meat selection of Beef/Pork/veal. This combo is readily available in most supermarkets in this town anyway. I\'m in New York City. I usually use this combo for all my Sauce recipes. Its the typical Italian Sauce meat. Again, though, the recipe is wonderful and easy. Don\'t let the amount of ingredients throw you. It still breaks down as "EASY" I would make it again, definately

I made this lasagna for my boyfriend on Valentine\'s Day (his favorite food). It turned out fabulously. I don\'t eat veal so I made it with 1/2 beef and 1/2 sausage. It was great. I found that my sauce needed to cook a bit longer than in the receipe but it was still outstanding. What I love about it, is the fresh, simple flavor - much like what you find in traditional Italian cooking rather than the over-spiced marinara sauces you find in so many restaurants.
I made my sauce the night before then reheated it the next day, assembled, and baked. My boyfriend at almost the whole pan! Definitely in my recipe book!!

This is a very good recipe, I loved it, and so did my girlfriend!! I wouldn\'t have added or subtracted a thing. I find it funny that some people like to badmouth the recipes listed on yahoo, but then you read farther down in their post and even though they are bad mouthing they have NEVER TRIED IT!!! "I can make something better in half the time, or half the ingredients, yada yada, BS. WOW!!! To anyone that is curious, don\'t listen to the wanna be master chefs, you can\'t critique something you never had. This is an awesome recipe!!

This recipe passed the husband test.
It is well written, easy to follow and delicious.
To the neophyte...be daring.
Lasagna is a 4 process meal..
Cook the sauce, prepare the cheeses , prepare the noodles, layer in the pan.
Don\'t be intimidated by the 19 ingredients.
Makes enough for today and a planned over for another meal.

This was a simple and delicious recipe. Although it takes some time, it\'s not difficult. It tasted delicious especially with the basil throughout. I used 1/2 lb. ground beef and 1/2 lb. "pizza sausage". I also added some crushed red pepper to the sauce to give it some zip which was still mellow but added a kick to the flavor. I can\'t wait to eat the leftovers!

This is a great recipe. I really loved how it turned out. I\'m using this same recipe to make my stuffed sea shells, but going to boil my sea shells first.

Too many ingredients to be called simple, took about an hour of prep time. The end dish was great. There are a lot of typing errors in the recipe, so read it twice before starting!!

I\'ve been looking for a lasagna recipe just like you would order in an Italian restaurant....found it! This recipe was easy enough to make on a weeknight and turned out great. Just follow the easy instructions and its perfection.

So I had to babysit my 9month old, bathe him, feed him AND I wanted to make dinner for my wife because she had a long week so I wanted to surprise her. Low and behold this recipe was featured and I figured what the hay... I had 3 hrs to feed, bathe and play with my son AND cook!
Man was this tasty. She had seconds, we had it for lunch the next day. I looked like Emeril LeFreakingGassi when this cooked up! I made it with 1.5 lb of ground beef, a little extra parmesan and instead of the fresh herbs, a little italian spice from the spice rack and BAM! Seriously, this is a great recipe for non cooking individuals or beginners to wow people with. No boil noodles are the best!

That recipe is excellent...my family thought it tasted great...it isnt dry, the flavors blend wonderfully...I add a little bit more cream and it works just fine...I honestly can say that I have tried dozens of lasagna recipe and this one so far is the most delicious...there are a lot of ingredients but it is still easy to make!!
I make it on a regular basis and switch from ground beef to ground beef and pork..it ALWAYS is a hit!!!

Made this vegetarian by switching out the meat with Smart Ground and adding green peppers and mushrooms. I also doubled the amount of heavy cream. Also used lower fat substitutes for cheese and dairy. Cooked for 50 minutes and let it set for 30 minutes. Very tasty.

An alternative to the potential difficulty of obtaining 1/3 lb of 3 different meats is buying 1 lb of italian sausages, removing the casing and browning the meat itself in lieu of the veal, pork and beef mixture. Typically the italian sausage is of mixed meat variety anyway, and comes along with good seasoning. enjoy!

For those of you worried about the caloric intake..I notice that the page doesn\'t say how large a serving is so if you have a normal portion plus a delicious salad then you will be fine!!!! All things in moderation!! I think it sounds good...can\'t quite figure out why everyone keeps saying ingredients are missing...they all seem to be there to me!!!!
And those wondering why salt and pepper are listed twice...read carefully and you should be able to figure it out!!!! It gets used in two separate occasions (with the meat and later in the ricotta and parmesean cheese mixture) so they simply listed it twice! Do you people only cook ramen noodles or something?????

This recipe is fabulous!! I like to throw some nutmeg and sherry into the meatsauce mixture. It gives it a little something extra. However it seems that many of the people who are reviewing haven\'t even tried it let alone ever made lasagna themselves. By the way salt and pepper are listed twice because you use them two differnet times during the cooking process and if you don\'t know what a Dutch Oven is then you should research it before knocking someone\'s recipe who obviously knows more about cooking than yourself.

they sell the three meat combo in the meat section in the grocery store - they call it "meat loaf mix". At least they do in the grocery stores in my area. Its usually a combination of ground chuck, pork and sausage.
OK, if you want healthy use whole wheat noodles, fat free ricotta, and ground turkey or chicken for the meat. And low fat cheese in half the amount. I\'m guessing it won\'t taste AS good, but give it a whirl. If you already cook healthy you\'ll know the substitutes.

i see the confusion in the recipe but i think ill just add the onion alone then cook for 2 mins THEN add the garlic. (not gonna add it twice) haha.
and with the parmasan.. maybe i am retarded but in the list it says 2 1/2 ounces parmasan but in the recipe it talks about adding 1 cup of it and later says about adding the remaining 1/4 cup of parmasan.
is 2.5 oz the same as 1 and a quarter cup??
sounds yummy though.. cant wait to try it out :)
