  1. 2 (6 ounce) cans solid white tuna
  2. 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  3. 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  4. 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  5. 1 small rib celery, minced
  6. 2 tablespoons minced red onion
  7. 2 tablespoons chopped dill or sweet pickles
  8. 1/2 small clove garlic, minced or pressed through garlic press
  9. 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
  10. 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  11. 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Cooking Directions

  1. Drain tuna in colander and shred with fingers until no clumps remain and texture is fine and even. Transfer tuna to medium bowl and mix in lemon juice, salt, pepper, celery, onion, pickles, garlic, and parsley until evenly blended. Fold in mayonnaise and mustard until tuna is evenly moistened. (Can be covered and refrigerated up to 3 days.)

    I love tuna salad! It\'s so versatile. You can add anything to it and only make it better! I usually coarsely chop an apple and throw it in. Just the other day, I came up with a chicken salad recipe that I just have to share!

    2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, poached, salted, and chopped
    1/2 c. mayo
    1-2 green onions, chopped
    1-2 stalks celery, chopped
    1/4 c. red bell pepper, chopped
    2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
    2-3 t. pickle relish (or to taste)
    salt and pepper to taste
    tarragon to taste
    parsley to taste

    It\'s delicious! I make some on Sunday and eat if for lunch throughout the week. Try it on bread or toasted... Try it on a bed of lettuce... Add ingredients... Take some away... Be creative! That\'s what cooking is all about! ENJOY!

    this is a great tuna salad recipe. i nearly use all the same ingredients, except for the lemon juice--something i\'ll definitely try. one ingredient--not mentioned--that i recommend are walnuts (chopped). these add a great \'meaty\' texture to the salad and the flavor goes great with the tuna salad.

    instead of pickles I sometimes use Granny Smith apples it may sound strange but it\'s good

    In addition to the recipe ingredients, I add halved green seedless grapes, halved water chestnuts and vinegar. If I have them, I toss in a few chopped walnuts or pecans. Boiled eggs, apples, or tomatoes are good, too. Try it on Ritz crackers.

    I like chopped up green or black olives in mine. And not much mayo, it makes it too drippy.
