  • Simple Is As Simple Does

    StormDevil - May 7, 2007 04:44:40 PM PST
This is not difficult people. The kcal content also is much lower than what you'd get from a burger or a quality cut of steak. Look at the Rib Roast recipe. One serving is over 900 kcals.

Difficult? You put the first 10 ingredients in a jar and shake it up! That's difficult?? If you don't like cooking than all recipes are difficult. I get a satisfaction from making it myself. It's always cheaper and healthier than buying "prepared" foods.

I've not made this particular Cobb salad yet but it's quite similar to some I have. Looks tasty, if you're in the mood for it, doesn't it?

I love a good cob salad! I omit the meat, however.

  • A ton of ingredients

    Crystal - May 7, 2007 02:22:50 PM PST
I'm not sure why this is on the easy to make list either. What I did to make it fit in that section was....I bought that tyson pre-cooked chicken breast. I like the southwest kind because it has more flavor, bought the bagged romaine lettuce that's already torn, real bacon bits instead of cooking and slicing bacon, and all I really had to cook was the eggs. I also just poured ranch dressing on it, and could use any alternative, instead of making my own.

Get over yourselves! It's a good salad. Yea, there is a lot of fat. Don't eat it everyday. It's a good special occasion meal.

  • Fat content

    Jeremy J G - March 31, 2008 01:48:38 PM PST
31 grams of fat? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm......that's what I love in my salad! I wonder if it can be topped with gravy or chocolate sauce.

  • Little too rich for my blood

    katieecrenshaw - March 31, 2008 01:32:20 PM PST
I wonder what the calorie intake and the fat intake would be if you cut out the blue chees and only used two or three slices of bacon.. that would be a little healthier.. and simpler...

  • 31 Grams of Fat for tiny salad portions!

    puddlejumper992003 - May 7, 2007 02:29:02 PM PST
Holy Cox, this dinner salad which claims to serve 8, but looks like it will only comfortably serve 4 has 31 grams of fat! Good lord, you might as well through a steak or hamburger on the broiler, nuke some potatoes, and steam up some frozen veggies and be done with it. You would have less fat, less calories with far less time and effort.

  • Are They Joking?

I followed a link to this recipe touting "Seven Simple Dinners" only to discover it has NINETEEN ingredients.

Now, can I just ask in what alternate reality a recipe with that much stuff in it is considered simple?

  • Sounds too difficult for a cobb salad

    Miss J - March 31, 2008 01:38:04 PM PST
This makes a cobb salad sound very difficult. I made one the other night using pre-cooked bacon pieces and pre-cooked chicken slices.

  • 31 fat grams? This is more than a week

    eves4599 - August 1, 2007 02:22:04 PM PST
I will make this with some type of reduced fat prepared dressing. I am still trying to figure out how this adds up to 31 fat grams according to the measurements given. No one should have 31 grams of fat a day.
