Even if your guests didn't leave any room for dessert, they will find a way to squeeze in some Apple Cobbler. You'll need apple pie filling, vanilla cake mix, butter, cinnamon, caramel sauce.
....the 4 tablespoons of water were supposed to be mixed in with the butter mixture and then pour the mixture over the apple filling and cake mix as the recipe indicates. The recipe is a little vague with directions...try re-reading it and make it again with the water added to the butter mixture...should turn out better for you...and i too, did not like the caramel.

I used yellow cake mix as it is moister then white. I also poured some additional melted margarine over the top on the dry spot and It turned out great. Everyone loved it. It is great warm with vanilla ice cream.

Caramel and apple both have a special place in my heart. This dessert is wonderful! As another reviewer commented, it goes beautifully with a ball of vanilla ice cream when it\'s just out of the oven.
Will be used often!

I too put the dry powder on top of the apples (as instructed)... but, I think you\'re supposed to mix the batter first... (meaning, you also need eggs, oil and water for the cake mix)...
having baked my concoction for thirty mins.. realizing i\'m a moron... I put 2 eggs, a 1/2 container of egg whites.. some oil (all I had).. and water... and then stirred...
I also cooked this in 2 casserole dishes... (which required a lot more cooking time because of the height)...
anyhow... if you can follow those directions (not sure what baking dry powder for thirty mins adds)... in the end.. it turned into a GREAT apple cake...
