These spicy/sweet pickles are a Texas tradition. My mother and I have made these delectable pickles for Christmas every year since I was young. We separate each batch into smaller jars and give them as gifts to friends and family. I would hate to think what would happen if we skipped a year!!
Note
You can also use this same process with jalapeno peppers, just omit the hot pepper sauce and use the same process. The result is a sweet/hot jalapeno.
I got my dills, drained, cut in half, added the hot sauce and garlic and started the sugar. I got all the sugar in in 4 days. Left sit on counter for 14 days( went camping and forgot about them). Came home and thought they would be ruined but the were not. They are fantasic. Don't look much like a pickle but try these, you will love them like we do.. bbrokofsky@yahoo.com
