2. Cooking Directions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and brown sugar in the water, and let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Stir the salt and oil into the yeast solution. Mix in 2 1/2 cups of the flour.
  3. Turn dough out onto a clean, well floured surface, and knead in more flour until the dough is no longer sticky. Place the dough into a well oiled bowl, and cover with a cloth. Let the dough rise until double; this should take about 1 hour. Punch down the dough, and form a tight ball. Allow the dough to relax for a minute before rolling out. Use for your favorite pizza recipe.
  4. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). If you are baking the dough on a pizza stone, you may place your toppings on the dough, and bake immediately. If you are baking your pizza in a pan, lightly oil the pan, and let the dough rise for 15 or 20 minutes before topping and baking it.
  5. Bake pizza in preheated oven, until the cheese and crust are golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes.

Yield: 15 servings

3. Still Hungry?

I have been making this almost a year now and it is our very favorite! I make this in my bread machine and almost always have to add just a little more flour if the dough seems too sticky.

Maybe the brown sugar makes this so special, as it is a basic recipe but taste and cooks up sooo awesome!

This was a great recipe that really baked well! Nice and easy, and It tasted great, with a really nice, crispy crust! I almost always double teh recipe to make more, as I use pretty good sized pizza pans. Also was great as a cheesy garlic bread!

  • A great staple

I planned to make this for my husband, who is a pizza lover. It turns out he saw the recipe and decided to make it himself, using a pizza stone. The results were fantastic! He's made it a few times now with different toppings, and the crust is always full and delicious. There's only one pizza I'm interested in eating anymore; it's my husband's made with this recipe!

  • !!Great Crust!!

I Loved Making This Crust Cuz Its So Easy!! My Family Loves Calzones And Thats What I Use The Crust For But, Cooking Can Be Hectic, (I Have 6 Kids). It's Great Though Because I Make The Dough Which Dosn't Take long At All, And While The Dough Is Rising I Prepare The Stuffing For The Calzones. And Its Fun For The Kids To Help Make. I Like Adding Herbs Into My Dough It Gives It A Wonderful Flavor, And The Crust Comes Out Chewy Just Like I Love It. Thanx For The Recipe Jay!! 5 Starz ; )
