to just put everything you're going to use into the pot at first, except the noodles. Simmer it at least 2 hours, covered, then strain everythig out, leaving the broth. Keep cooking the broth while you are de-boning the chicken, reducing the broth to about 2 quarts. Then put the noodles and de-boned chicken into the broth and cook until noodles are done. This will have all the flavor of the original recipe with half the trouble.

  • This was great!

This was my first time making chicken noodle soup and it was a success. The main problem I had was the chicken skin and bones, but the time and effort put in was well worth it.

  • Very Good

This was a perfect recipe, I tried last year. It was soooo good. Now that I'm a vegetarian, I will have to substitute some things. So hopefully it has the same results. Thanks for the awesome recipe.

I found my soup base in a plastic round container next to the chicken bouillion squares but the soup base is powdered and it is yellow color.

  • Great recipe with one addition

    Sugar - February 25, 2008 03:43:22 PM PST
This is an excellent basic Chicken Noodle Soup recipe with one important addition. Just before adding the noodles, disolve 1/4 cup cornstarch in 3 or 4 tablespoons of cold water and stir into pot. Then add the noodles and cook accordingly. Add seasoned salt to taste. This has become a family favorite.
*Chicken Soup Base: Found in most grocery stores near the bullion cubes. Not the same as bullion cubes but better for soups.

I never made homemade soup but this was pretty ez... I added a little more spice to it making it more like a spicey chicken noodle and yes make sure you make the noodles the very last thing you cook...

Chicken soup base is a powdered chicken flavored base that comes in a jar and is found near the soups in a market. It is similar to boullion (dry granules)
