OMG here come the tree huggers again. "People are starving", and me not spending my hard earned money for fine steak is gonna help them how? I wouldnt pay that much simply because it is not in my budget to do so. But if someone can afford it, and wants to, more power to em. Why the heck do any of you care how other people spend their money? Jealousy? Envy?

Okay, I'm a Texas steak lover. The best steak I've ever had was at the Black Angus Restaurant in Waco, Texas. My taste buds were very happy. I will never eat a $100. steak, unless it's a gift from someone who has a million shares of Microsoft.

Too expensive for my taste.  Cook steaks slow on the grill and they will match any price beef.

Too expensive. If you grill syeaks slowly on a good grill, it will taste as good as the best beef.

Why is it that 30,000 americans can come together in protest when they see a dog get kicked by it's owner but, no oneone stands up in protest to getting ripped off at the pumps or as in this case...why so much for a piece of meat. If it tastes best medium rare, how will it tate if you leave it on the grill too long. I say cut the red meat out of your diet and live a little longer and let the cows do the same.

Wagyu is pretty good alright; you just don't think about what it cost you. For most people, doing a blind test between an excellent cut of Prime and Wagyu, they can't tell the Wagyu more than 50/50. The article is correct about one thing; don't overcook either one, Medium tops and M-R better.

what has this world come to:' TOTAL GREED'??????????????? I help to support a little boy who's Father feed's his family on $110 a year in ETHIOPIA, and he has a family of 7, this is the most outrageous article I've read on the internet, ever. All I can say is what about donating the steer to a charitable organization to be auctioned off and the proceeds to help the poor of our Nation??? Our country is always helping other countries, except the poor of our own country.

Who can afford steak these days with gas prices like they are? These people have more money than brains. Last time I had steak, someone took me out for my birthday and they paid for it.

#24. richard2 h. How can we tell if the meat we buy from our local meat market is grass or grain fed? Do the butcher's even know what they get?

Most of the people I know that spend that kind of money in a restaurant are on expense accounts and we are paying for them, in one way or another.

Lobel's of New York has been selling dry aged Wagyu for several years now. It's very good, but pricey. I generally go to my local butcher shop & they have excellent cuts of locally raised/fed cattle. With good quality beef, you can make your meal taste like a million bucks, but w/cheaper cuts, they need a little help.

I can tell you exactly why this steak costs so much, and it isn't because of the way or where the cattle are raised or what the cattle are fed. It's simply because wealthy people will pay that price for it. This, in turn, gives these same wealthy people a feeling of superiority of regular people. In my opionion, it simply makes these same wealthy people stupid. Let's face it, if these wealthy people wouldn't pay this price for these steaks, then these steaks wouldn't cost this much.

Hello...did no one pick up on the fact that her cousin is the person who invited her to the auction and made a small fortune on this high-dollar meat? I agree 100% with Dina K--it all flushes the same the next day!

All that money for beef, please! It's not that serious. The day I spend that much for beef will be the day when there is nothing else to eat on the planet. It you think this meat is worth it then I got some land I want to sell you. "is my wrapper coming off? do they think I'm a sucker?" Food is not that important!! get a clue!!

Before the people on the East and West coasts got the bug, you could eat Kobe beef in Japan for a $10 meal. Not long after the Yen topped the dollar the false economy in America saw a dollar cow and milked it like they do everything. Come to the Mid-west and eat great beef from Kansas City and Omaha.

Wow, that is an expensive cut of meat. However, if an individual wishes to spend their personal funds on any type of indulgence it is their choice to do so. An extravagant meal, prepared at home or at a restaurant is soothing to the soul after a long week of work. "It's my money and I'll spend how I want to"!

The Plain truth is: It's All About Money!!! Rip the American people off & Americans are dumb enough to fall for it!! Meat is meat! I know someone that can take the tuffest, cheapest piece of meat(steak) out there & make it melt in your mouth. Let's get real people it's just knowing how to cook it!!! I would NEVER pay the price!!!

I have been to the Cattlemans Steak House in Fort Worth and I would put their steak up against anything from Japan at 1/10th the price. But the best steak I ever ate was buffalo steak from North Dakota grilled by my neighbor. Very little fat or colestrol and no grissel. Great!!!!!

Beef is beef. The stock show auctioned off the prize cow for over $100,000.00 and was served at the local resturant for less than that. Like everything else the new will wear off and McDonalds will be selling it for less.

The story said there are no pure Wagyu cattle here in the U.S. Not true. According to several articles I've read there is a company called HeartBrand Beef in Texas that has 100% pure Wagyu. They have never been crossed with another type of cow. They are called Akaushi.

I agree with Frank T, it's a gimmick to see how gullable you are. For you folk with a short term memory. Black angus was marketed too as being the best and only thing as eatible in a fine resturant, now its common place. hmmm must be time for a new market. Sounds like alot of BULL to me.
