Y! Food's Top 10 Turkey Recipes

Thanksgiving turkey can go one of two ways. Sometimes the ideal bird emerges from the oven, and my grandmother yells for my father to come and carve it. Then there's the other way, like when my great uncle cooked it without removing the giblets or when carving goes awry, and we end up serving turkey splinters, not slices. Turkey is, straight-up, one of the largest creatures we cook whole. That creates a slew of tricky variables. To help you gain some control of the unwieldy bird, here are Yahoo! Food users' top 10 favorite whole-turkey recipes. Click on any link below for a winner...

1. Perfect Roast Turkey
A classic straight from Martha's kitchen.

2. Deep Fried Turkey
A bird for the adventurous family that doesn’t count calories on T-day.

3. Porcini-Rubbed Turkey With Shiitake-Madeira Gravy
The gourmet answer to a more flavorful meal.

4. Orange-and-Mustard-Basted Turkey With Apple Cider-Mustard Gravy
A bird that refuses to depend on cranberry sauce.

5. A Simply Perfect Roast Turkey
An incredibly simple recipe you can count on.

6. Ma Lipo's Apricot-Glazed Turkey With Roasted Onion and Shallot Gravy
A creative combination to surpise your table.

7. Roasted Wild Turkey
An apple-stuffed turkey surrounded by potatoes, carrots, and onions.

8. Maple Roast Turkey
A recipe that's sweet, earthy, and autumnal.

9. Honey Smoked Turkey
Food for those nostalgic for the sweet mesquite of summer.

10. Roast Turkey With Oranges, Bay Leaves, Red Onions, and Pan Gravy
A brilliant idea that saves time by using a Kosher turkey instead of brining.
