As a lover of a good cup of coffee, I have found that the Folgers Gourmet Coffeehouse coffees - I like mine dark roasted - compare in taste to the German coffee that my mother-in-law used to send us. I agree that the French press is the best tasting, but I usually use the drip maker in the morning. In the evening, my husband and I like to relax with the French pressed coffee.

Chase and Sanborn , Sarah's right, it's about the water, and since i ca'nt afford to spend 50$ for bottle water a week, what i do is let the cold water tap run for about two mins' (here in Mich you have too or you get a glass of white chemicals to drink) than i pour it in ,hit the brew button, and it's coffee time.

use filtered water, cold from your fridge, and get yourself a Bunn coffeemaker- in a few short minutes, you will have a great pot of coffee. You gotta like the consistency of Folgers, great taste and good value for the price, and when you are flush try the Neuman's whole bean coffee, it's really good. As much as I like Dunkin Donuts coffee from their shops, don't buy their ground or bean coffee from the grocers. It is very disappointing and weak in flavor.

French Press????, the only way to make coffee is under pressure..i.e. an espresso maker. Go to Italy or Vienna, there you will find the greatest coffee. You will never see drip apparatus or a french press. A long cup made with an espresso maker is the only way to go. Also try a Biletti.

I like to nuke (2 min, 25 sec seems to work) about 12 oz of 1%, add a teaspoon each of Nescafe & Taster's Choice (both bottom and top notes) and enjoy. I don't use sweetener, but my friends suggest half the usual amount of Splenda. For indulgence, use 2%. .

I gave this a three because most people do not make coffee the way you suggested. Why not show how to make the best coffee for those who do not use the rich approach. Hence, Making coffee from fresh grind or store bought grund in cold water and coffee pot. what I did like was you used a four cup measure.

TOO MUCH WORK...need to focus on getting coffee in my gullet as quick as possible. The french press produces too little for my consumption. I choose Peet's House Blend, and a Cuisinart Grinder/Drip Brewer. I get enough of the delicious ebony elixir to satisfy my morning/workday needs.

I must have a good cup of coffee. Folgers, Eight O'Clock and Seattle's Best are my preferred brands. Two leveled scoops / 4 cup coffee maker / pinch of salt is my recipe for success. Sweet n Low with cream is yummy!

My $25 Walmart coffee maker, tap water and Seattle's Best French Roast tastes pretty damn good to me. In this economy (or in any economy for that matter), who's going to spend all that money for a friggin' cup of coffee?

In spite of how good a French press is, I still use a $15 14-cup Mr. Coffee with Maxwell House Columbian. Once it's done, I immediately put it in the fridge, as I drink mine black, on the rocks (iced coffee), and I drink about a half gallon daily. Teddy Roosevelt drank an entire gallon of coffee daily! Maybe that's why he did so much while he was president...
