If you're a fan of pizza and also like to cook, put down the phone, and think twice about calling your usual delivery place. Two of the top food magazines in the U.S. have articles on making your pies at home. The March issues of Bon Appétit and Food & Wine both promise to help you perfect your own pizza.
On page 90 of Bon Appétit, food personality Giada De Laurentis gives recipes for dough and three pies - a three-cheese pizza with pancetta and mushrooms, a pizzette with goat cheese and ricotta, and a chocolate dessert pizza. They're a little froufrou to be sure, but the article's worth a look-see. Sadly, there's no sauce recipe; see recommends using a store-bought marinara.
In Food & Wine there's a short bit titled "Perfecting the Pizza" on page 110, and it gives a list of kitchen-tested pizza essentials - from pizza peel to cheese to tomatoes to pizza cutter. There's a recipe for pizza Margherita as well.
