I'm an American GI stationed in ITALY- and it's HARD to find Pizza this good in the States. So, we DO still crave the TRUE Italian style Pizza while back home. CIAO, Gratzie

The Legendary Danny O'Doul has eaten as much pizza as anyone on Long Islad (Wemphis area) and he holds the record as the greatest "hooverer" of the slice in American history.

I was lucky enough to grow up in New Haven. I now live in the south and these folks wouldnt know a good pie if it hit them in the head. Same kind of folks who think Olive Garden is good. Poor souls!

if you want really good pizza, try "aloys " or "emilianos " in poughkeepsie, new yawk....pizza hut pizza tastes better warmed up , than it does fresh, and forget dominoes , pathetic dough .

I'm from Indiana, now I live in California, but the best Pizza around is the Pizza King in Indiana, all their food including the subs are really fantastic, don't have any idea what they do to it, but it is the best ever, wish their was one here in California, at least I can call them up and they would ship me some here, if you ever make it to Indiana, look up the Pizza King's, there are plenty around, at least give it a try

Chain Pizza joints haven't taken over completely...at least, not YET. If you're ever in Austin, Tx, try Saccone's Pizza & Subs. A TRUE family owned pizzaria, they bill themselves as 'Pizza With a Jersey Attitude'.
True to form, the crust is made fresh daily in their shops (only 2 locations, now that one's burnt down), and made thin-crust style. Think it won't fill you up? ALL of their 'pies' are 18". That's 2" larger than any chain shops' X-Large.
As the crust IS thin, and the sauce is homemade, keep THIS in mind...the fewer toppings, the better the slice. 3 cheese slices will fill ME up, and I'm a big guy (240lbs)!

Aside from fresh ingredients, using brick ovens is a must. To the best of my knowledge, that's mainly a tri-state thing. I'd take Papa Johns and Domnios over Pizza Hut. Forget Little Ceasars. They always offer multiple pizzas for some ridiculous price. If it's too good to be true - it probably is.

Pepe's was one of the best pies in the New Haven area, It's still a GREAT pie, and the brick ovens never go cold. There is some other notable places in the area that make a decent pizza as well. Some of you may never experience New Haven pizza. You can always shoot me an email, and we can work something out!!
Bon Appetit !

I believe nothing compares to a little hole in the wall, mom and pop type pizza parlor. Fortunately for me I have such a place in my neighborhood called Fatman's Pizza and Bakery. By far the best pie I have ever that the pleasure of eating, whether it be traditional Italian or thin New York style.

In and around New Haven (aside from the place[s] mentioned above), I'll say Aladdin's (Crown St., New Haven), Naple's (Wall St.), (and the pizzeria on Campbell Avenue, West Haven--on the plaza next to the beach). It's to die for.
