Great report! Good job spreading the word on the Shiratake tofu noodles, those things are my salvation! Now I gotta find that Greek Yogurt. I wish we had Trader Joes in S. FL. Lisa, you do a wonderful job. Thank you sooo much. You ROCK!!!

Thank you for giving information about low carb foods. It is the only way I can loose weight. When I cut out white flour, sugar and the sweetest of vegetables and fruits, I'm left with a healthy diet and I do loose weight! George Stella and Ruth Glick have published some terrific recipes that I am using so my family doesn't know the difference! Hopefully more products like Shirataki Noodles will be added to our groceries.

I founs these noodles at Publix. They where by the organic veggies.. This sight is awesome haven't used any receipes, I just love to see what's out there to try.

I have gone from 238lbs to 192lbs with this FORMULA given to me by my Nutritionist at the VA. The formula is 15 and 5. What does that mean? Read only 2 things on cartontainer labels: First CARBS, and if higher than 15mg, don't use it. Next, FAT, and if higher than 5mg, don"t use it. If you do that, all other things on the label will fall into place(Sodium excluded). Edy"s slow churned ice cream fits the "Formula"; Gortons Grilled filet fish fits the formula ( Only 3mg carbs, and 1mg fat. Pasta is 44mg Carbs; Baked beans is 42 mg Carbs. All other frozen TV dinners range around 25mg Carbs or higher. Email me for more info. The Formula works.

The noodles are great, but a little chewy. It's not a bad idea to cook a few whole wheat noodles to toss them up with them when you make spaghetti. They taste great though and are a great source of protein!!!

dward200420002001, while your plan works well, it's very limiting. I've been diabetic for 29 of my 33 years, and have done pretty well incorporating foods with more than 15mg of carbs per serving. In fact, I believe you meant 15 *g*, as carbs are generally measured in GRAMS and not MILLIgrams. Kudos on the weight loss, but people need to know that it's ok to eat things with a few more carbs as long as they're eating the RIGHT KIND (the natural ones, for example, since there's not an apple in this world with less than 15g carbs per apple!).
Tanya T , again, a minor misconception in your post. While it is true that SOME added sugars are not processed differently by the body, it is also true that NATURALLY OCCURRING sugars tend to be associated with higher fiber content than foods with added sugars have. Fiber assists the body in properly processing sugar, and therefore is a part of the equation for "net carbs," which is becoming a more popular phrase on food labels.
There are many equations for calculating the carb intake you "should" use on a daily basis. Healthy is great, but don't restrict yourself too much or be unrealistic. With all of the options out there today as compared with 20 years ago, being diabetic isn't as bad in terms of the dietary side, and dieting itself can be more enjoyable.

About the yogurt, aren't you confusing low carb and low fat? You say be sure and get the 0% fat. Yogurt with no fat tastes very thin and watery. It's the cream in it that makes it delicious. And the cream has no carbs in it. I

I have found 2 different varieties of the tofu noodles at my local Ingles. They always seem to have a great selection of healthier foods, including vegetarian, tofu products, and alot of organic.

Hi, guys! I wish we had an Ingles in Austin! I hear nothing but good things. But we do have Whole Foods and you can get all 3 of the products mentioned above. FYI on the Yogurt: When we lived in Greece, my babies loved [profane]e yogurt. There, they have it with fruit as well. It's delicious because it's strained to double thickness. A super dessert is to serve it with honey and walnuts. (Careful on the honey and no to the tree nuts for infants and toddlers.) The Total full fat is just fine for people on low carb diets, and the 0% fat is great for anyone at all. It tastes rich anyway because it is so thick. Women especially do not get enough calcium, and this yogurt is also well-tolerated by people with lactose intolerance. Plus, the ratios of healthy bacteria strengthen everyone's immune system. Win, win, win!

some people don't do well on high protein diets, some people can eat anything and some can eat only proteins to maintain/achieve a healthy weight. i suggest not going all gung ho over a new way of eating until you research it fully. i suggest the following book: metabolic typing diet. you fill out the long questionairre and it will tell you what category you fall into and what foods work best with your own individual body chemistry. they also have a web site: https://www.metabolictypingonline.com/Default.aspx go to this web site for more information or if you want to take the diet typing test online. it is customized to your specific needs.

okay this is my first time.. for the person who said that we're fat cause we're lazy. well you know that's not always true. you're young no doubt by your lovely comment. Some people are over weight as it's a genetic thing. Look at your mom and dad if either one of them are over weight, pretty much you'll look like they do at their age! so before you go throwing stones just cause people over weight doesnt mean that they are all lazy. Granted there are lazy people out there but dont categorize us. You have a low self esteem and should look into that.

Comment number 21, please don't make yourself sound so ignorant. People who are overweight aren't always "lazy" people. Genetics have a lot to do with how we gain and lose weight. I grew up in a house where my mother owns a gym and she is a certified nutritionist. We always exercised and ate right, and I still have an overweight sister. And she is by all means NOT LAZY. If you are uneducated on a subject, it is best to keep your comments to yourself.

To the person from orlando asking about a nearby healthfood store.Winterpark has a great healthfood market. I don't know the name of it because I don't live there( only visit )but it's located on US17 and it's south of Lee Road if that helps.You can take I 4 from orlando and get off at the Lee rd exit going right(north). Take that road till you get to 17 and make another right and the store is about 1/4 mile down the road on the left.Good luck.

Sugar is actually better for you than corn syrup. Amazingly the industry only uses corn syrup because it is DIRT CHEAP. It literally doubles the calories of any food because you need twice as much corn syrup to sweeten something compared to sugar.
So dig in to that yummy sugar, and remember its not the sugar in candy that makes you gain weight, its all the fat from the chocolate and peanuts in those things.

I have been eating the [profane]e 0% fat yogurt every mornign for breakfast for about 6 months. I add a handful of fresh berries and two packets of splenda, then stir. It is really satisfying very very thick and creamy. I have also been eating the shirataki noodles for a few months now too (in fact i ate them last night). I rinse them and then boil for a couple of minutes, spray with a little "I can't believe it's not butter", couple sprinkles of parm cheese and maybe some fresh veggies. very tasty!!
