HG's Rockin' TOP ATE Soup List!

It's gettin' chilly out there, so warm yourself up with one of HG's favorite guilt-free soups. Here's HG's Rockin' TOP ATE Soup List! Wheeeeee!

1. Campbell's Select Gold Label Soup, Italian Tomato with Basil & Garlic
(1 cup = 90 calories/ 0g fat/ 770mg sodium/ 19g carbs/ 3g fiber/ 14g sugars/ 3g protein)

There's a reason this thick tomato soup earned itself a place in Campbell's line of Gold Label Soups. And that reason is...IT TASTES AMAZING!!!! Sweet juicy tomatoes blended with real basil leaves and garlic make this super soup irresistible. And with just 90 calories a cup (and no fat at all!), it makes a great addition to any lunch or dinner.

2.  Tabatchnick Cabbage Soup

(One 7.5-oz. serving = 90 calories/ 1g fat/ 160mg sodium/ 21g carbs/ 1g fiber/ 11g sugars/ 2g protein)

Cabbage soup ROCKS! Sweet 'n zesty, it's hard to find one that doesn't break the calorie bank! Tabatchnick's version is sweet and thick, yet the nutritionals are right on target. Find it in a box in your grocer's freezer aisle -- not with the canned soups. HG Heads-Up! If you find yourself avoiding soups 'cuz of the high sodium content, you may want to take this low-salt soup out for a spin.

3. Mishima All Natural Miso Soup, White

(1 packet; 8 oz. prepared = 35 calories/ 1g fat/ 820mg sodium/ 4g carbs/ 0g fiber/ 0g sugars/ 3g protein)

Maybe you've tried some other instant soups (ones consisting of some lame-o powder and freeze-dried veggies) that taste more like salty water than soup, once prepared. Well, Mishima is not your average on-the-go soup packet! This one's chock-full of tofu bits, seaweed and delicious miso flavor. Toss these packets in your purse or pocket, and you'll always have a crazy-delicious 35-calorie snack handy. HG Tip! Mix some House Foods Tofu Shirataki noodles into the soup, and you'll turn your snack into a miso-rific 75-calorie noodlefest!

4. Progresso Traditional 99% Fat Free Soup, New England Clam Chowder
(1 cup = 120 calories/ 2g fat/ 720mg sodium/ 21g carbs/ 2g fiber/ 2g sugars/ 5g protein)

Betcha didn't expect to see cream-based clam chowder on a list of guilt-free foods. Even we were skeptical at first, expecting some watered-down version of this classic favorite. But Progresso's version of the stuff is insanely creamy and is packed with huge chunks of clam and potato. YUM!

5. Amy's Light in Sodium Soup, Organic Cream of Tomato
(1 cup = 100 calories/ 2g fat/ 340mg sodium/ 17g carbs/ 3g fiber/ 11g sugars/ 2g protein)

Amy's Kitchen continues to crank out dozens of fresh-tasting organic foods. And now, in addition to their regular products, they're serving up "Light in Sodium" versions of their classics.  This creamy tomato-licious soup has WAY less sodium than most other canned soups but still tastes great. Go, Amy!

6.  Campbell's Soup at Hand, Chicken & Stars
(1 container = 60 calories/ 1.5g fat/ 890mg sodium/ 10g carbs/ 2g fiber/ 1g sugars/ 3g protein)

Campbell's Chicken & Stars Soup at Hand is an ideal on-the-go snack or mini-meal. It has a super-low calorie count and perfect chicken noodle flavor. The starch portion of this soup comes in the form of teeny-tiny stars that are so freakishly cute you'll wish you could actually see them, as opposed to just slurping them up from the can. Oh well, ya can't win 'em all...

7. Progresso Healthy Favorites 50% Less Sodium Soup, Chicken Noodle
(1 cup = 90 calories/ 1.5g fat/ 470mg sodium/ 12g carbs/1g fiber/ 2g sugars/ 7g protein)

Woohoo! It's yet another soup from our friends at Progresso.  And this one has HALF the sodium of their regular chicken noodle soup, which is obviously great news (and believe us, you won't miss the sodium at all!). We're always astounded that it's possible to pack in so many noodles and so much flavor for so few calories and fat grams. We don't just love this soup. We are IN love with it.

8. Healthy Choice Microwavable Bowls, Country Vegetable Soup
(1 cup = 100 calories/ 0.5g fat/ 440mg sodium/ 21g carbs/ 5g fiber/ 4g sugars/ 4g protein)

Rounding out the Top Ate is the best vegetable soup we've ever had the pleasure of spooning (um, we mean eating with a spoon, not cuddling with!). It consists of flavorful tomato broth and some of our favorite veggies -- zucchini, carrots, celery, and kernels of sweet corn. Mmmmmm! Bonus: The container is microwavable, so it's an ideal snack to keep in the office or anywhere else that dishes may be in short supply...

HG Warning! Packaged soups generally contain high amounts of sodium. If you count sodium, you may want to eat these in moderation and be careful to choose soups that contain less of it.

I just recently discovered this website and LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT !! This time of year is very difficult for me as I work in an office of non WW minded people and they gorge themselves daily with pastries, rolls, danish, bagels........you name it, they eat it here. To tell you the truth, it kind of makes me sick to my stomach to watch some of them eat. When I have a minute, I surf this site for new ideas and inspiration......Keep it up, HG !!

By the way the Campbell's Select Gold Label Butternut Squash is the best. It even has a little zip to it and it is only 2 points for weight watchers. You have to try it. Charlene

HG, I love you! Great tips. Wish you would take into account MSG, which is in so many processed foods, esp. soups, salad dressings, frozen meals, etc. For those with allergiers, it's really bad. For those who are watching weight, according to obesity experts, MSG helps fat hold on and stay in the body. Yikes! Please include if products contain MSG, which is tricky because there are over 40 words that can mean MSG: example, "modified corn starch = MSG". Thanks.
