Don't Act Your Age! Guilt-Free Goodies with a Kid-Friendly Spin ...

There are sooo many kid-centric, yummy foods that are low in fat and calories, too! Don't believe us? Hungry Girl is here with proof ...

Gerber Graduates Finger Foods, Fruit and Veggie Puffs

Okay, it's not often we scour the baby food section of the supermarket looking for snacks. But these bite-sized, cereal-ish crunchies are too good to pass up! They come in Strawberry-Apple, Banana, Cherry, and Sweet Potato! And a whopping 80-piece serving has just 25 calories and no fat at all! Inhale these tasty treats straight from the container, or sprinkle 'em on fat-free yogurt, pudding, fro-yo, or cottage cheese.

Pizza Bagels

Remember the days when you'd devour this after-school snack?  Well, time to reminisce with an HG-spin on this classic kid food!  Start with one of Western Bagel's Alternative Bagels; they're just 110 calories, fat-free, and packed with fiber! And they come in a bunch of great flavors (try the Roasted Onion for a zesty p-bagel!). Slice that baby in half and top with some low-fat/low-cal tomato sauce. Then top it off with a handful of fat-free mozzarella and pop it in the toaster oven 'til crispy! The whole thing'll cost you about 200 calories! For some extra pep, throw on some Hormel Turkey Pepperoni slices.

Dreyer's/Edy's Slow Churned Light Ice Cream, Limited Edition, Girl Scouts Samoas Cookie and Girl Scouts Thin Mint Cookie

These ice creams, infused with everyone's favorite throwback snack, hit shelves this spring. This bowl of ice cream with mashed-up cookies has only 120 calories and 4.5 fat grams per 1/2-cup serving, so you can gobble without guilt. And while you wait for these special flavors to hit the shelves, sink a spoon into the other Slow Churned Light Ice Creams available year-round.

Reminisce with a Ring Pop

This retro candy you can wear won't break the calorie bank! In fact, each one of these glamorous fat-free suckers has only 70 calories. They come in oodles of flavors including Watermelon, Green Apple, Blue Raspberry, Rainbow Sherbet, and Cherry. Who needs platinum and diamonds when you can slip a sweet, sticky, candylicious Ring Pop on your finger instead?

Mac 'n Cheese, Please!

Mmmm ... gooey, cheesy, sauce-smothered macaroni noodles!  This childhood staple is one craving we never grew out of. But unfortunately, cheese + cream + pasta = a pants-popping disaster! Lucky for us, there are a bunch of guilt-free alternatives in the frozen food aisle. Michelina's, Cedarlane, Amy's, Lean Cuisine, and Healthy Choice all offer lightened-up versions of this cheesy meal. HG's Pick: Smart Ones Macaroni & Cheese. With just 270 calories, 2 grams of fat, and tons of cheddar-y flavor, this meal is the real deal.

It's Jell-O Pudding Time!

We're not quite sure what it is about these cute little pudding cups that make you feel like a kid again. We're just happy we can enjoy a sugar-free pudding snack for just 60 calories. Jell-O's also got a line of 100-calorie, fat-free pudding cups that come in wild flavors like Vanilla Caramel Sundae and Devil's Food. Yay!

Krispymallow Treats!

Remember prancing around the kitchen waiting for Mom to finish up that batch of gooey Rice Krispies Treats? Or maybe you just waited for her to return from the grocery store with a box of the ready-made ones! Either way, HG has whipped up a high-fiber version that's so good it'll have you jumping up and down and clapping like a little kid. Weeee!

Ingredients:
3 tbsp. Smart Balance 37% Light Buttery Spread
3 cups miniature marshmallows
2 cups Fiber One cereal
5 cups Kashi 7 Whole Grain Puffs or puffed wheat cereal

Directions:
Melt butter spread in a large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add both cereals. Stir until well coated. Using a spatula, press mixture evenly into a baking pan coated with nonstick cooking spray. Allow to cool. Cut into 25 squares.

Everything on here looks really good, except for the gerber puffs things. I tried them about a year ago, when my brother was eating them and I really did not like them at all. i must say that i have not tried them on yougurt or anything else yet, but from what I have triend I found they have no flavor. I really like everything else though!

The banana gerber babies are good... but the sweet potato tastes like cat food... or what I think cat food would taste like if I ate it. :) I eat Jello pudding everyday for lunch.. it's just enough to beat that chocolate craving I have at noon.

There is so much misinformation about the food we should eat, namely that we can (and should) eat all the carbs and sugar we want as long as we avoid the "monster" fat. This is not true. Just look at how fat America is. It all started with the new food pyramid suggested by the Government which hyped this eating plan. All of the foods mentioned here are loaded with carbs and sugar. This is not good for anybody, at any age. Everyone, babies especially, needs healthy fat in their diet. The problem arises when you COMBINE fat and sugar (or carbs). Educate yourself, people, and take a look at some information on low-carb eating plans. Your weight will stabilize, you'll feel and look fantastic and you'll likely avoid heart problems and diabetes in the future.

I think that our bodies are equipped with a need for all different types of nutrients. That is why a well balanced diet is the most effective way to maintain a healthy body. If your body craves certain foods ( and the craving is not due to stress) you should listen to it and make a wise decision to silence the craving. Some cravings are your body's way of telling you that it needs something. Eat a healthy balance of smrt food choices, and you will see a difference. A lot of "wanting/craving" a certain food is from self-deprivation.
