Sorry guys these are NOT Healthy!! Just because the label says 100 calories does not mean the ingredients are feeding your body healthy things. Check out the ingrediends and do the research on the things you dont know what they are. That will give you a new slant on what the FDA will allow labeled as "healthy".

All these snacks sound good but will only leave you wanting more. My suggestion is to stick with a 1/2 banana or a 1/2 cup of frozen fruit if you're craving ice cream.

I don't think we need to deprive ourselves completely of any kind of food, including "junk" food. The key to health is moderation and balance. That's what these snack packs are attempting to do for us, limit our portion size. We can do that without the additional cost of this packaging and throw in plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Carrots and celery with humus is a great snack too!

I have been eating many of these for a while in order to help myself lose weight and thank goodness for them! Most of them are great tasting and they have helped me quench my ever present sweet tooth! While I agree that they are not helathy, it is FAR better to eat a few of these NON healthy, but low calorie items, than gorge on their EVEN higher calorie larger alternatives.
100 calorie snacks i think are a great invention especially if you are on a reduced calorie diet. Of course carrots and celery are much better choices but come on who's really that much of a health nut all the time!!

Sorry to tell everyone this, but most of the snacks in this list (like everything else in grocery stores with pretty packaging) has partially hydrogenated oils...the ingredient the company does not have to legally state as "Trans Fats" even though that's exactly what PHO's are! Legally, because there is less than 0.5g per serving (don't forget serving sizes), the FDA states that the label can read "0g Trans Fats." PHO/Trans Fats are what clog arteries, promote cholesterol and fat build-up, and screw-up basic metabolism. For quick 100 calorie snacks, try fruit, veggies, oatmeal....or get in the habit of reading the entire label.

I agree. Show some restraint. Packing your fridge doesn't really say much about portion sizing. Just because they are "100 Calorie" doesn't mean you get to eat them everyday. Next time you drive through McDonalds don't order a big Mac, order 4 happy meals instead. Each one has less fat and carbs so you can enjoy each one guilt free. LOVE the apple comment!!!

I disagree with all but one of those choices. The beef jerky bites are probably the least of all those evils. Seriously, all of those "healthy" snacks are packed with sugar to replace the fat. Since fat has 9 calories per gram and sugar has only 4, you could have twice the amount of sugar and still not have as many calories. Our bodies process refined sugar too well and it turns straight into energy or if in excess, fat. Like someone said above, wake up people.

The only problem with the Hostess 100 Calorie snacks is that they contain HIGH FFRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. This is a no-no if you want to lose weight. Our bodies cannot process this substance and thus it is stored as fat in our bodies. Look for low-cal snacks without this added ingredient. I've tried and its not easy!

did HG mean dessert? If you want to be healthy, you should adjust your palate away from processed food filled with high-fructose corn syrup and trans fats. I agree with dsmusser. Try eating fruit or a handful of nuts.

Good article. 100 calorie, pre-packaged snacks are a fantastic thing to build variety in to a daily eating plan. But folks...please remember...just because it's low-calorie doesn't mean it's healthy. Many of these have TONS of preservatives and artificial flavorings. While the calorie count aligns with your diet plan, the ingredients building these calories are working against that same diet plan. Just know, before you mow.

Not sure how 'secret' these snacks are since the majority say '100 calorie' in big letters on the package, plus they're not healthy (low-cal doesn't mean healthy). Nothing like re-wrapping an advertisement as news...

The Lorna Doone's and the Chex chocolate-caramel are really good. They may not be "healthy", but losing weight is still about burning more calories than you take in. These are a great way to take in less without feeling flavor deprived.
