Lets try less processsed.foods. A good bagel right . Zero fat -but a glycemic "put my fat burner to sleep".. We lost our common sence in the "fat free "that replaced the fat with sugar to get you to like its taste . FDA wants you fat to keep the hospitals and clinics full-of problems . We have unprecendeted FMS CFS sufferers along with the new "processed and chlorine laden wanna be sugars" Try eating an apple instad of a bagel ,or a bowl of plain oatmeal is glycemicly lower than milk and cherrios. Im between cane and wheelcahir for back issues but failed to gain weight , Notice olive oil has zero sugars ,zero carb zero cholest-but OH NO !!!!! -14 grams of monosaturated cold press Fat ,This will make you thin ..Satisfies and fills you up . Dump bead pasta and OJ and any other fast glycemic foods ,or you ll be with the half of America soon, I used to hang with the chubs at 185 . Low carb and natural ,simple salads and vegtable fats (avacado ,.olive oil) 40 pounds gone for 10 years like the above poster ..For a sweet tooth try agave nectar! 5 times slower insulin release than honey . Natures secrets are not ads on TV. Try eating slow glycemic fruits ,leafy green vegis turkey /fish and water . Ditch the calorie counting ,esp fat . Read the olive oil label , Be carefull splenda users ,FMS CFS and other health issues are caused by our new friend .

These articles are getting boring. If people would just get into a regime of proper exercise they wouldn't have to concern themselves with an extra 50 or 100 calories here and there. But they'd rather get a plate of their diet foods and sit on the couch watching TV or sitting at the computer for 4-5 hrs. hoping they lose wait. We are a lazy country which is why we are a Fat country.

As an alternative to soda, drink Lipton's Diet Green Tea with Citrus. Its delicious and the label is full of zeros... only water can beat that!

I keep a small baggie of raw almonds, with some yummy craisins (dried cranberrys, best deal at Costco), and I sometimes throw in a little bit of chocolate chips, milk or dark, just to satisfy my chocolate cravings. Its filling, yummy, satisfies sweet tooths and its good for you.

If anyone would bother to check with the USDA's food pyramid they'd see that you need all kinds of food. To eliminate one thing completely is nuts and unhealthy. Moderation and portion control is the key. Snacking is fine as long as the rest of the day includes everything else you need. Think, people!

Sandra B - your best bet for a no cal, no carb alternative to soda would be unsweetened iced tea. You might also benefit from the antioxidant effects of fresh brewed tea.

These are called suggestions, people, so lighten up, 'kay? Packing your own snacks is always optimal but who hasn't had to run out the door at the last minute and forgotten their munchies? Also, not everybody has their own workstation to stash their goodies in; not everybody's white-collar at a desk. She's just trying to help us mitigate some of the damage.

Those snake mention above are rarely find in any vending machine. They might had okay nutrition but they still had a lot chemical preservation.

Ok, well that's a start. I'd like to see more vending machines that provided fresh foods and produce. They're out there. From what I've seen, those are the machines that sell out the fastest.

If you exercise regularly, you don't have to be so concerned. People want to be able to be lazy and not get fat. Good luck!

I avoid snack machines all together because of the high fructose corn syrup that is in practically everything now. It is also the reason I do not drink soda.
