Re: 9 Fat-Burning Eating Tips
some very good ideas but if you are going to plug an individual product you could do much better than the Quaker Simple Harvest picture. This product has almost 1/3 of its calories in simple sugars, almost the worst thing you can throw into your body if you are trying to loose weight. You would be far better off using Bob's Red Mill multigrain hot cereals (no sugar added and more fibre) and some fresh (or frozen) berries to satisfy your sweet tooth. A little extra work but far better for you.

Don't forget that you have to drink more water after exercise, or if you are an active person. So I do believe in the 64 oz of water a day, it sure has done wonders for me!

The viciousness of some of the responders leads me to think that perhaps their good health hasn't resulted in much happiness! My wife conned me into Weight Watchers "new relationship with food!" The results have been pretty dramatic as we have both lost a lot of weight - over 25 lbs. for me since mid-April. That has happened with very little exercise and still enjoying our nightly gin and tonics! Just started an exercise program using a heart rate monitor and Healthy Zones program. Those results have also been pretty amazing. 30-35 minutes on the treadmill resulted in 200 calories burned previously. Using the heart rate monitor and the Heart Zones program, I burn 240 - 275 calories in the same time.

Your article was great on how to burn fat. Recently I started eating more protein and noticed a substantial weight loss. I now think that I'm on my way to weight loss success.

I have tried the Xylitol and I cant tell the difference between it and sugar except that I am allergic to sugar (sugar cane) and this doesnt cause the allergy symtoms I have with sugar. I have tried various other sweeteners and have found this one to be the best alternative for me and it has no nasty after taste.

adults should not be eating anything(vitamins, medicines) that are formulated for children. They metabolize things differently and react differently in our bodies. by the way stevia is not splenda..you can ge it at your health food store

Bananas, Bananas and More Bananas! Grapes, Rice, granola bars, granola cereal, low fat milk, tons of water. I eat the cereal with milk at 515am and go to work at 630am. I eat at my desk all day, mostly fruit. I work out 5 days a week and run one day a week, usually Sundays. I can still ride my bicycle 50 miles and rollerblade 10 miles. I am 46. But in all fairness, I drink one beer with dinner every night. I eat Japanese food for dinner every night. Also on Saturdays I sip crown royal and cokes while listening to tunes and dancing and hitting the salad bar! Must be able to do everything and still be 100% strong and flexible. I weigh 175 at 6ft 3inches with a 32 inch waist. Technically I should weigh 255 but I choose not to since I keep the furnace burning sooo hot I can put anything in it! Party on but live strong! Win but Teach. LIVE LIFE!

These are good tips, except..... when menopause is raging! It has caused my wife to pickup 30 extra pounds. Her eating habits have changed in an effort to shed them, Pilates, low carg diet hardly any fried foods. I can tell she's getting quite frustrated because she's not seeing any results. What do you recommend with this?

Don't drink too much water. Stick with the recommened amounts for your body weight. Too much water can dilute the minerals in your body and serious deficiencies can develop including high blood pressure.

It's really sad to see the soy myth still being pushed on people. Soy inhibits hormone receptor sites in women, causes thyroid dysfunction and overall is hard for our bodies to digest. Best to eat in moderation or not at all.
Steal cut oats are best. Stay away from "instant" varieties that are loaded with sugar. Kashi Go Lean is extremely high in sugar! Make sure you read lables for sugar content. If it is in the first 4 ingredients, skip it. Or if it has more than 5g of sugar per serving. Refined sugars are just as dangerous as anyother drug that is refined from a plant i.e. the poppy seed, etc. Sugar is no different. Check out the book "Sugar Blues" an excellent source of info.
Be careful consuming too much dairy as it is pasturized (meaning cooked) and all of the digestive enzymes have been killed. Most people aren't lactose intolerant, they just lack enzymes. Choose raw organic milk- goat's milk is even better!

for Chris G, it's true that smaller people don't need as much water as larger people. if you are on the lighter side, four to six glasses is sufficient.

Hahahaha, and no mention of how eating after certain hours decrease the body's ability to break down food. or how cutting back portions benefit. And how about throughly chewing food instead of two bites and swallow?

I can't eat oatmeal or grapefruit. I would take this more seriously without the ads. And the 'experts' don't say 8 glasses of water a day. You are behind the latest findings.

I was told by one of my psychology professors that there is a way to tricking your mind into eating less. He said that if you use dark or navy blue plates, it tricks your mind into thinking that your smaller portion is actually bigger and that you fill up faster... neat little factoid there...

Lots of grain as well, but really, must you restrict the kind of food you take? Eating anything in the right proportion and at the right time of the day will do, {for example, bread has a slow metabolism rate at night} and then exercising on a regular basis.

Just remember foods high in sodium retain fluids in the body and splenda is not something I would use on anything if I want to stay healthy. Also, grapefruit has interactions with different types of medication. Being informed is the most important thing if you want to stay healthy.
