It's amazing how many people here are under the impression that humans are somehow "higher" and "more important" than other animals, like chickens. Who are we to say whether chickens and other creatures are "meant" to supply us with food? Yes, killing is killing, but would you personally rather be beaten, boiled alive, THEN killed? Or would you rather they just shoot you in the head and get it over with? Because I'm positive the chickens feel the same way. Yes, I said FEEL. Don't give me that "Oh no, not PETA crap". I'm not a PETA member, I'm just a sensible and compassionate person.

By the way, do they honestly think that they're giving us breakthrough information in telling us that apples have less calories than fries? Shouldn't that be obvious? If you can't figure that out on your own, then you probably shouldn't be trusted behind the wheel of a car driving to McDonald's in the first place...

Nick, the words "humane" and "inhumane" have nothing to do with being human. Just because they have the word "human" in them doesn't mean...oh, nevermind. Just look it up. And even if it did, why are humans so much more important and worthy of compassion? Humans are capable of doing many, many evil things, and they are poisoning this planet and ruining it for everyone. So don't try to suggest that animals are worthy of love and care. They of all creatures on the Earth deserve it the most.

I agree that its sad that animals have to suffer. It is better to just kill them quickly. But I dont understand how not eating chicken will help anything. Chickens will always be killed for food. Its not like not eating them after they're dead stops the 'abuse'.
As long as the chicken is dead and cooked, I'll eat it.

Why is American obese? Because of the chemically laden fast-food listed above. Want to be healthy and have vitality? Eat the food that nature intended us to eat. Real food doesn't come in a box or a can or is produced by some huge conglomerate.

The whole probably I have with HG is that she harps on calories and fat content, but ignores carbs (which are sugars). Some of us, me included, do not process carbs well. I eat a "South Beach" kind of way, which means I eat mostly lean proteins, veggies and fruit. No rice, no bread, no processed carbs of any sort. I don't count calories; and I've lost 108 lbs. since 6/1/07.

Wendy's Mandarin Chicken salad is really good. Something I do if I am taking the food home, is I order a side salad and top with mandarin oranges at home. This way I am getting a proper serving size.

Really helpful information...What about doing an article about easy to make snacks that you can carry along with you. You know to work or something like that.

musicalhungerfed, actually it says in the BIBLE that GOD put animals here for us to eat. It is also said, "It is not what man puts in his mouth that defiles him, but what comes out of his mouth that condemns him." Dogs and Cats are one thing, but anything that was put here to be eaten was put here to be eaten. I don't think it really matters how it gets from the SLAUGHTERhouse to our plate.

If PETA had its way and everyone around the world stopped eating beef, pork, poultry, fish, etc and we'd stop using feathers and animal skins, what would happen to all these animals? They'd over-populate and take over the world.
Humans cannot live on seeds and veggies alone! Besides, wouldn't eating seeds be the same as eating animals/birds/fish? Eating seeds stops plants from growing and to some people, that could be cruelty too.
PETA needs to take a moment to think before they open their BIG MOUTHS.

Oh my God. We are KILLING the chickens. We are KILLING the cows. And we are KILLING the pigs. Whatever happens to them BEFORE they are killed, they are NOW dead, and nothing we say or do is going to change that they are dead nor how they were treated while they were alive, so we might as well eat them because KFC is not going to change the way they kill/raise their chickens just because a few people refuse to eat there because it's "inhumane". Now pass me the [profane] KFC.
